"who was that nick?" kennedy nudges nick as he walks quietly beside her. everyone in the group hears her question and focuses on the boy to hear what he was to say.

"his names max. he works at the hotel, obviously, but he checked us in last night. i accidentally ran into him and we got talk and we introduced ourselves properly. so we got talking and we were having a rather nice conversation before someone decide to literally drag me outside." nick explains glaring at chris.

"dude. you were taking forever. i had to come get you or you would've been there for another hour!" nick just rolls his eyes at his brothers excuse as to why he had to interrupt their conversation.

"he's quite cute dont you think?" art nudges nick with a smug look on his face.

"oh come on guys. i just met him." nick gasps at his friend's suggestion.

"soooo. you were totally blushing while you were talking to him." audrey explain matter of factor like nick didn't already know that.

"i wasn't! you guys are ridiculous." that was a lie. nick totally was blushing. "but umm. i did ask him if he wanted to hang with us while we're here."

"DUDE- how are you already this whipped?" vincent exclaims, his expression exaggerated at the fact that nick isn't admitting to liking him.

"i met him not even 24 hours ago- i can't possibly like him. i don't even think that's possible." nick hits vincent on the shoulder lightly, trying to emphasise the point.

"ok whatever you say." vincent just rolls his eyes.

"i hope that's ok that he hangs with us." nick asks.

"yeah dude, it's totally fine. the more the merrier. plus, now we've got something to tease you about." vincent teases. nick punches his shoulder.

"me and nick were talking last night though. we think he looks so familiar but we can't think of where we know him from." matt says getting the group's attention.

"yeah. i completely forgot about that. i honestly feel like i've met him before but i can't remember where from." chris agrees with his brother.

"maybe he's on social media as well and you've seen him before? maybe he's popular on tiktok?" kennedy suggests.

"no, if he was i'd definitely know. and plus it's not like a he looks familiar, even though he does, it's more of a like a deja vu kinda thing." nick thinks for a second.

"maybe you knew him when you were younger?" kennedy questions.

that brings something into nicks mind. he remembers having a friend from preschool who was a red head. he doesn't remember his name though. and he doesn't think he looked similar to max at all.

"hmm, i don't think so." nick replies. "it's whatever, let's just drop it for now. im sure we'll figure it out."

and with that, the group drops the subject of max and continues down to street to get their bagels.

"this place looks sick as." matt says as the gang walk into the cafe.

it's a dark academia theme with some side of the cafe being covered by vintage bookshelves which are filled with old books. there are rustic wooden tables scattered around the restaurant, the chairs being black metal stools. the group go and sit down at the biggest table seeing as there was 7 of them.

one by one they head up to the counter to order. next to the counter and glass display of bagels. there's gotta be about 20 different types of bagel in there. some sweet and some savoury. nick feels like he's in heaven.
