Slugging into the house, Shade fumbles with the lock at the main entrance. She enters the room fully and meets Abeni, on the L- shaped brown colored sofa. She moves closer to her and genuflects while greeting.
"Good afternoon Aunty Abeni."
"Shade! You're back. How was school?"
"Not too stressful. But I am very tired though. Feel like they placed heavy cement on my head."
"Ah ah! Good forbid! Heavy cement bitibawo?" Abeni quickly moves closer to her and examines her head and eyes. "You're not running a temperature now. What happened?"
"I don't know too. Let me just eat and rest. Maybe if I don't get better by night time I will use paracetamol." She turns to the section abhoring the rooms and goes into the the second one on the right while Abeni shouts her reply over.
"Okay oo."

She removes her uniform and puts on a yellow satin sleeveless gown and blue flip-flops. She leaves the room for the kitchen and is stupified at the condition of the kitchen. Her eyes widen immediately as she looks around with her mouth agape.
"What the hell happened here? I washed all these plates this morning before I left for school." She continues her examination as she goes about the kitchen clearly surprised. Immediately, she spurns around and returns to the sitting room.
"Aunty Abeni!"
Abeni turns around from the television and gives her attention.
"What is that?"
"Erm.... The plates I washed this morning before leaving for school are back in the sink dirtier than before. And I confused."
"Oh! Sorry my dear. My friend came over with some of her friends. They came to check up on me so I cooked for them. I'm sorry ehn." Abeni explains.
"Oh!" Letting out a sigh. "I will go and wash them."
"Thanks dear." Shade makes to the leave the sitting room but Abeni's voice stops her. "And there are some clothes in the laundry room too." She submits and gives Shade pleading looks. On hearing that there are more things to do, Shade rushes to the laundry room and is bewildered at the mountain of dirty clothes in a pile. What is going on? She spent the whole of yesterday washing clothes and didn't even go to church so she could stay home to wash them. How come almost all the clothes she washed yesterday are back here in the laundry as dirty clothes? She goes back to the kitchen and calls Abeni again.
"Aunty Abeni! Can I ask a question?"
"Go on dear."
"I'm sorry o. But how come almost all the clothes I washed yesterday are now back in the laundry today? Did your friends wear them too?"
"Ah ah" Abeni bursts into laughter and turns around on the sofa. " No oo. They wanted me to proof to them that I'm actually fine so they suggested that we took pictures. I had no options but to actually try most of the clothes on to see which one suits me best. You know very much that I don't appreciate putting on a clothe more than once without washing it. I'm sorry ehn. And my health won't allow me to assist you with it."
Shade stares hard at the movement of Abeni's mouth as she gives her explanation. She shakes her head gently and leaves the sitting room. She moves to the piled up plates and begins to sort them out for washing.

Shade trudges into the room and collapses on the bed face first as she groans mildly and grovels about looking for something. Her hand touches a glassy surface and a solid surface and she picks up her phone. She puts it on and sees a message from Keziah.
Bestie
Did you arrive home safely? How are you?"
Shade
I did. I'm sure you did too. I'm tired 😔.

She puts the phone on the bedpost and moves closer to the pillow. She slowly closes her eyes and drifts to sleep.
