"Thanks dear." Abeni appreciates Shade as she places s blue tray holding a glass of water on the glass stool placed directly in front of Mrs Alonge.
Shade genuflects in reply and leaves the living room.
"Abeni..." The elderly woman trails off warning evident in her voice.
   "Maami."
"Hmm. What an elderly person will see while sitting on the floor, if you youth should climb a tall Iroko tree, he or she will not see it. I know what I am talking about. This girl is not someone you should laugh with like this. She's someone you ought to inconvenience and set boundaries for."
"But I can't see any reason for this your point. I mean, I practically don't do anything in this house. She washes my clothes, pumps water, washes plates, sweeps the house. As big as this house is, she sweeps almost every day without complaining o. See Maami, I can't see what you're seeing. And I think it's best we leave it like that."
"Ah, my head! What has that girl done to you? Didn't you hear everything Baba Eweloogun said the other time?"
"I wasn't really paying attention actually. But if it's what I think I heard I actually did, I'm sorry but there's no way there. Does he want to kill her ni, that's he's asking for sponge, toothbrush and comb. Don't you even have human feelings at all Mom? That man is diabolic and set out to destroy everyone who comes to him for help." Abeni explains with restrained calm shaking her head in disapproval as her mother stares at her like she developed horns.
"Abeni? Is this you? I knew it! You were so reluctant to come back here and I knew something was wrong. Now you are here and you have allowed yourself to be jinxed. Somebody save me." She shouts putting her hands on her head.
"Calm down Mom. This is an estate o and you're shouting. Don't let them think I'm the one behind your trouble o." Abeni chides her mother and rises up to her feet. She walks towards the door and peeps in through the keyhole before squealing in joy.
  "What is that?"
"Babs is back." She squeals in happiness and opens the door joyfully. She runs out of the house while her mother turns the way and pinches her face a few times before turning back to face the blank television.
Babatunde comes in holding on to Abeni who secures his waist with her arms. He is happily beaming with smiles as he firmly holds her waist.
"Good evening Mama." He greets prostrating flat on the floor as Abeni disengages from him. The old woman smiles a little patting his back.
  "How was your trip?"
"It was not too stressful. We thank God."
  "Babatunde I'm not happy o."
"Ah. What happened ma? Shawty you didn't give her refreshments?" Babatunde asks clearly concerned as he immediately takes a seat and turns to face her while his wife rolls her eyes at his concerns.
  "She said she's okay."
"Oh please. You think I can take food and drinks in this state of mine?"
"Mama what is wrong. Is anything the matter?"
"Of course. When are you people going to give me a grandchild. I know how much I waited before your union and now here are we. Please you people should give me a grandchild."
Relief washes over his face as he hears the reason for her unhappiness.
"Mama. Nothing is wrong with us. It's because of my work schedule and Shawty here is always very busy anytime I come around too. We're trying ma and I know God will crown our efforts with success." He said with a smile turning to look at his wife for approval as the latter smiles too and assures her mother.
  "We're working on it Maami."
"If you people say so. Just so you know, this little period of time is also something o. You people should use it wisely, especially you Abeni. Have time for your husband. He has one already, born yours too."
"I have heard Maami. Let Babs change first he will come out later." She suggests pulling her husband to his feet.
"Thanks Mama. I will join you shortly."
  "Okay."
Babatunde turns to leave Abeni closely on his trail as she calls out to Shade;
"All Shades of love! Daddy is back o."

I'm sorry for the late update. Thanks for almost a 100 reads though I'm a little disappointed that we're having such low reviews. This is what keeps Save Shade going. Without the votes and comments it's just like any other book on paper without readers. Thanks for striving to make me happy, yourself alike. Do have a beautiful week ahead 💟❣️.
