Harry was dropped off soon at Grimmauld Place as soon as his visit with Slughorn was successful. Dumbledore said good night and apparated away.
Harry entered the house to find everything serenely quiet. A pin drop silence. It was evening time and Harry wondered where Sirius and Remus and Draco were. Since it was close to dinner, he made his way to the kitchens.
The sight that greeted him made his eyeballs bulge out and his breath catch in his throat.
Snape was sitting on one side of the table and Sirius on the other. Draco and Remus were huddled at the opposite side of the room, staring warily at the situation going on.
Sirius was sipping on a cup of tea, sneering at the greasy-haired professor with pure hatred. Snape returned his gaze with an even more loathsome curl of his lips.
Harry cleared his throat to dissolve the silence, "What's going on?" He asked, voice low.
They all looked at him. But each had different expressions. Sirius and Remus looked happy. Snape looked—- well, like he always did. Draco just sighed of relief, smiled and gazed at him for a little longer than necessary.
Harry swallowed heavily as Snape got up and brushed a frail hand over his robes. "Mr. Potter, I was just having a chat with your dear godfather. I am here to take Draco away. His parents are missing him." His voice still sounded as annoying as ever.
"No." Harry blurted out, "He isn't leaving."
Snape's lip curled and Sirius looked somewhat proud, "I am not asking for your permission, Potter. Or should I remind you that I am much older than you and smarter so I do not need your unnecessary opinion."
Harry scowled, "May I remind you, Professor, that Draco is of age and is capable of making his own decisions. He doesn't want Voldemort's lap dog to parade him around."
Sirius grinned and mouthed to Remus: 'I love him.' Remus shook his head and sighed.
"You little—-" He scowled, anger evident on his wallow features as he raised his wand to Harry's throat. Remus, Sirius and Draco raised their wands as well, alert.
"Just like your father you are. Arrogant and disrespectful. Maybe if he had shown some respect, he would have been alive today," He said in a low, dangerous voice.
In a flash of movement, Sirius's fist met the side of his face and the greasy Professor stumbled back, wand still in hand.
"Snivellus, you bastard, haven't changed a bit have you?" Sirius barked, "Get out! Get out of my house! Now!"
Snape looked murderously at all the present people in the room, giving them all a long heated glance. He didn't say anything more, just left with a swish of his robes and the remnants of his dignity.
Sirius clapped a hand on Harry's shoulder, "You alright, Bambi?" He asked, rubbing his shoulder with his palm. Harry blinked a few times and let himself be pulled into a hug, "I'm okay, yeah. Thanks."
Sirius ran a soothing hand over his head, "Snape's an idiot. Don't listen to a word he says, alright?"
Harry nodded and sighed.
"Come on, Pads. Let him breathe." Remus coaxed softly with a smile. Sirius stepped back and gave him a small smile.
Draco stood next to them, smiling nervously as if he didn't wish to intrude on their family moment. Remus saw this and smirked surreptitiously.
He led Sirius away, mumbling something about needing help with something in their bedroom.
Harry looked at them in confusion as Remus took him away by the arm, glancing at Draco before closing the door behind them with a creaking thud.
Harry turned to face Draco, face already heating up, "Hey," He smiled.
Draco took a hesitant step forward before deciding against it and leaning back on the balls of his feet and looking down nervously and mumbling a small 'hello'. He looked flushed and embarrassed for trying to hug Harry so Harry did the same.
He moved forward and wrapped his arms around him, fingers pressing into his back and face pressing awkwardly into his shoulder. His glasses dug into his nose as he felt two arms snake around his waist and squeeze gently.
"I'm glad he didn't take you away," Harry mumbled and stood on his toes to let himself press further. Draco kissed the shell of his ear and whispered softly, "Me too." Their chests were pressed together and their hearts beat in sync.
A few more beats later, they moved apart to embrace each other's lips for a few small pecks, Draco's thumb caressing Harry's cheekbone. Their faces were flaming and lips turned up into goody smiles.
Draco made him sit down and eat something before telling him the tale of how Snape had barged in and demanded to search the house before stumbling in on Draco sitting in one of the balconies.
"He grabbed my arm and dragged me to the door before your godfather, Sirius, got in the way and threatened to use an old hex," Draco said thoughtfully, "I don't know which but Snape looked mad and then they moved to the kitchen to argue more, then Lupin calmed them down and made them sit and talk like adults."
"We all know how that goes," Harry snorted and finished eating.
Draco grinned and re-enacted the entire scene of how Sirius and Snape threw insults and insults after each other in a dramatic way which made Harry stare at him fondly.
"And then you came and you know how that went." Draco finished, taking a sip out of Harry's water.
Harry wasn't listening now, his eyes followed Draco's hand and how his Adams apple bobbed when he drank water from the glass that had been touching Harry's not mere moments ago.
His cheeks heated up.
