"...Just what in the world was that."Barou being confused was a complete understatement, as even his ridiculously huge head couldn't process what had just happened.
He could've sworn that the man was right infront of him just a few seconds ago, and yet in a blink of an eye he was gone. Just like that!
"You..."
Barou sent a hostile glare towards Usui, but the latter only replied with a shrug as he rushed back to his side of the field, and back into his position.
Just as he'd expected, his move had shocked not only Team X but even Team Z themselves.
Feeling an oddly persistent pair of eyes being drilled at the back of his head, Usui turned to meet the fellow who had seemed to pick a bone with him, but only met with the one and only Isagi Yoichi.
"...?"
He tilted his head, but a sudden beeping sound which indicated the start of the next goal brought him back to reality as his focus was now on the field.
"Don't underestimate me, you inferior scum..."
Before anyone in the vicinity of the ball could react, Barou had pushed his way through the crowd, stealing the ball for himself and not allowing anyone else to get close.
He was so strong that he'd managed to push away people like Kunigami with ease, and his endearing aura only made it all the more scary to even face the man.
'Shoot, lost focus...!'
Barou had managed to force his way through, nearing the rear defences that posed as the only obstacle in his goal's way.
There was Chigiri, someone who had not made any noticeable movements as of late. Without any concrete ideas on what he was capable of, it was hard for Usui to even assume that he'd stand a chance against someone like team X's number 10.
In a moment's time, Usui sped off towards the raging bull's direction, his speed far exceeding what he'd just displayed previously.
In a split second, his leg was aimed towards Barou's feet, the tip of his shoes being a mere centimeters away from blocking the ball.
Noticing this, Barou executed a perfect sidestep, effectively maneuvering out of danger's way.
Now, it was all up to...
"Chigiri, don't let him score!"
Realizing it was too late for him to do much of anything right now, Usui immediately turned towards the red head, who looked anything but prepared.
"Shit!"
Despite his so called 'best' efforts,
Chigiri's delayed reaction time and hidden hesitance was not nearly enough to block the powerful kick that mercilessly sent the ball flying towards the goalpost.BEEP!
The buzzer sounded, signalling that team X and Z were now neck to neck for the first set.
Now, the two teams only had the second half to turn the tables on either sides and clutch a victory.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
"This is why we shouldn't have let Mr. Genius be the center!"
A certain flame head exclaimed angrily, slamming his fist down on the poor bench that not only had to endure his two cheeks, but an extra something it most certainly didn't sign up for.
Team Z were now in the locker rooms for their short break, before the next half of the game were to resume yet again.
Though Usui was currently under Raichi's harsh criticism, he remained silent as he only stared blankly at the ground beneath him, with sweat droplets plopping down here and there.
It wasn't that he had lost his mind, but rather his mind was lost in thought.
All that resided in his thoughts was the red headed male in team Z, someone who had never shown even a bit of his skills since coming here.
Chigiri was someone who willingly made himself the background character, the black sheep among all others. It was like he didn't have the faintest desire to outshine the rest.
With no warning, Usui found his eyes staring straight into Chigiri's, the former swiftly breaking eye contact in response.
With a shake of the head and a double slap on both of his facial cheeks, his mind had been set.
Even if he had to trample on the potential of others, there was no debating it.
He was winning the game...
With or without the team.
