I carefully scanned the platform for my cousin, Hermione. There were so many people, I didn't even notice the girl running towards me. Just as she was about to leap into a hug, I realised who the brunette girl was. "Y/N! I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU'RE HERE!""Goodness, Hermione, I kinda need to breathe!" I laughed, hugging her back.
"I don't care, I'm just so happy!" She finally let go a few seconds later, causing me to notice the two boys stood next to her.
One was a brunette with circular, charcoal glasses and lighting bolt scar, who I knew at once to be none other that Harry Potter. The other was ginger with a pale, freckled face and ocean blue eyes. I realised in a moment that this must be Ron Weasley.
"Harry, Ron, this is my cousin, Y/N!" Harry looked as though these words had snapped him away from his thoughts, and back into reality. "This is Harry!"
"Hi!" He said with a small smile.
"And this," She continued, turning to the other boy. "Is Ron!"
"Hi!" He said, with a slightly bigger smile than Harry's.

We gave our introductions for a few, short minuets and then bid goodbye to our parents. Hermione led us onto the train, and into an empty compartment near the back.I sat near the window, (as I always do when it comes to train rides) and Hermione next to me. Harry was across from me, quickly going back to his thoughts with Ron next to him, playing with his thumbs.
"So," Hermione broke the silence. "Y/n, are you exited for Hogwarts?"
"Of course! It seems lovely."
"It is, but, what house do you think you'll be sorted in?" It took me a few seconds for these words to really enter my brain.
"House?" I turned to her, confused.
"There are four houses, Gryfindoor, wich is what we're in, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff..." She stopped speaking, looking away from me. It was as if she thought if she said the work, she would be sick. "and Slytherin."I sat, quietly for a second or two, then I finally realised what she meant by houses. "So, what do they all mean?" Hermione quickly snapped back to the world as she looked up at me.
"Gryfindoor is friendship, and bravery. Ravenclaw is cleverness and a healthy mindset. Hufflepuff is patience, and loyalty. Slytherin is cunning, and ambitious. But, I don't think you'll be in Slytherin. I think you'll be in either Gryfindoor, of Hufflepuff.""Probably." I replied, smiling at the outstanding view of the lake below the tracks from the window.
"We should probably get changed into our robes, I expect we'll be arriving soon" Harry sat up as everyone, including me, followed.

We arrived a few hours later, however, Harry, Hermione, and Ron had to leave me because I had to be sorted into my house.I waited patiently, behind the doors to the great hall, for the first years to be sorted. I was with Professor Mcgonagall, and I was quite scared to enter the hall. I hated having people staring at me, I hated standing up in front of people that were sat down, and most importantly, I hated doing things on my own.
I can be quite an independent person when it comes to some things, like, class work, and dealing with my emotions, however, when it came to things like this; I hated it. The soft words of Mcgonagall pulled me out of my thoughts. "It's time, Miss Granger." I gave her a low nod.
"And now, our new student," Then the words of Professor Dumbledore came. "miss Granger." The doors to the Great Hall flew open as I walked up to the stool. I tried to just get it down with as quickly as possible, so I could just sit down. Cages of butterflies in my stomach had been tugged open and I could barely see straight.
I could barely process what was happening around me, due to the pounding of my heart in my ears. "SLYTHERIN!" The hat's voice yelled. Did I hear it correctly? Didn't Hermione say earlier, 'cunning and ambition.'? I didn't fit that criteria whatsoever.
My legs pulled me over to the Slytherin table, and I sat next to a girl that looked my age. I sat down, and did the same thing I always do when I'm nervous: shake my right leg.
"Hello!" The voice of the girl sitting next to me lifted my head up. She had silver, blonde hair, and blue-grey eyes that looked like they had a sheet of I e covering them.
"Hi..." I replied quietly.
"I'm Daphne Greengrass, you're Hermione's sister, right?"
"Cousin, we just have the same last name." I laughed lightly.
"Well, if you ever need anything, let me know, and I think we're sharing a dorm, as well! I can show you where it is after dinner."
"Thank you! That would be great!"
