Chapter 02- After.

Steve couldn't believe this.

This had to be some sort of sick joke. He couldn't believe it!

He rubbed the bridge of his nose and looked out of the window for the third time since he was left here, thinking that maybe- just maybe- this was a prank and the others would come back to get him.

But they weren't. Not for another four days.

Billy had planted himself onto the couch. Silently looking at the small tv, his face stoic.

And his lack of anger made Steve even more angry. Why wasn't he freaking out right now!?

"Seriously. Did you plan this?" Steve spoke up, his voice grave and full of spite.

He saw Billy's shoulders rise once, twice and then he heard him chuckle. And again, his skin started tingling with anger.

"Aren't you so full of yourself...." Billy mumbled, not even bothering to look at him. "Why the fuck would I plan this? You're not fucking special, Harrington. Those bastards don't know how to mind their business and now here we are."

"Then I'm leaving." Steve said, walking towards the door.

"You'd be an idiot to try."

"Then what do you want to do, huh? Wanna sit there and do some bonding exercises?"

"I don't want to do shit. I cant fucking stand you and the only reason I even come near you is because of my goddamn sister." Billy suddenly sprung up, his cheeks were flushed, and his eyebrows were furrowed.

Steve shook his head, a scoff leaving his throat.

"Well then are supposed to just be here. Like this?"

"It doesn't seem like we have any other choice." Billy sat back down, slouching against the couch, "we don't know where we are, they took the cars and it's cold as shit outside. In here at least I won't die of exposure."

Steve knew he was right. That wouldn't stop him from being upset about this.

——

A couple hours later and both were sitting on the couch. The air was tense and aggravated but they were both silent.

Steve had calmed down. And in the time he had spent just sitting here, he reflected.

He was wracking his brain trying to figure out why they would do this and he reflected. On everything.

He came to the conclusion that maybe he could be less hostile. The others went to extreme measures to get them to be more civil with each other so obviously their mutual hatred for each other was making them uncomfortable.

Fuck, he honestly didn't know what to do. He felt lost. And he hoped that Billy wouldn't rip his face off for trying to make this work.

But for the others, he concluded, he'd try.

——

Billy didn't even want to look at Steve.

He couldn't believe this bullshit. He couldn't believe Max would do this to him. His head was spinning and he felt a little sick.

This was awful. This was by far the worst idea his so-called group of friends had ever had. He was beyond angry at all of them.

Especially Max.

He would definitely give her a piece of his mind when he saw her again.

"We should stop fighting all the time." He heard Steve say and it felt like a punch in the gut.

"What?" Billy grumbled, looking at Steve for the first time in hours.

Steve shrugged, "Yeah, I mean we're here because they want us to stop fighting, so let's just stop. Let's try."

Billy felt... He didn't know how he felt.

Mad? Upset? Guilty...?

He agreed. God, he never thought that he would ever agree with Steve again but he did. He felt his head swirl with an emotion he hadn't felt in a while but he pushed it away.

He hummed, "yeah okay whatever."

Steve let out a deep sigh. Clearly he was tense and now that they agreed that they would try to be nicer to each other, he felt awkward.

He didn't know how to proceed from here.

And then a weird muffled grumble startled them both. Billy's stomach.

Steve couldn't help the chuckle that escaped him and he put his hands up in surrender when Billy glared at him.

"Let's see what they left us." He suggested. Billy nodded and they both went to look in the kitchen.

The air was still awkward but at least they weren't fighting.

Billy figured this could end okay. Maybe.

He wasn't sure what feeling to feel in a moment like this, but he let the moment go on.

And the others, all they could hope for was that their stupid plan wasn't in vain.
