A week passed from Asta's last mission. He had done his usual routine and trained everyday. Some of his peer believed his day to be strange, as he worked out non-stop. But, he ignored them. He had done some catching up with Kate, more than he was able to before, and learned she lived in a small town called 'Nean". While she lived there, she made friends. Their names were Rebecca Scarlet, Erika Sitate, and Helene Barbary. Although they disagreed with her choices of becoming a Magic Knight, she became one anyways. Now, past narration, only Asta and Kate had been sent to Julius. The two were walking down a long hallway. "I'm surprised it's only us." Asta said, with his arms behind his head. "I'm sure whatever it is, it will be easier than the dungeon." Kate inquired. They turned a corner and stopped in front of a door. Asta opened it and let himself and Kate in. Julius is seen writing on paper and yawning. He saw the two and teleported in front of them. "Ah! You two are finally here!" He slightly shouted. "What is it that you needed, Captain?" Asta asked. "Your next mission! It's a simple patrol around a village, so Domiant won't need to come along with you." Their captain explained. "Hai!"

The two Magic Knights are seen getting ready to venture off, both on separate brooms "Two weeks and I'm already going back." Kate said in slight disappointment. "What's wrong?" Asta asked, as he picked up her tone. "My friends used to tease about wanting to become a Magic Knight, and having e come back is going to give them the wrong idea." Kate explained, looking at the ground gloomily. Then, she felt a hand resting on her head. She glanced up and saw her childhood friend's smile, "Don't worry! You'll get to prove them wrong when we get there!" A smile came to her own face, "Yeah, I'll show them how wrong they were." She said shyly. "That's the spirit!" He exclaimed.

Soon, they arrived in the small village. It was nothing special, but many there called it home. People covered every street. Whether they were vendors, children, couples, etc, you could find them here. "This place is lively." Asta said, looking around. "It's usually like this, that's one of the reasons I loved it here." Kate said, "My home is somewhere around here. Wanna look for it? I'm sure my parents will be more than excited to see you." After awhile of walking and talking, the Kate eventually guided them to her home. It was like all the other houses, made of brick and roof of straw or hay, a wood balcony hangs from the second story, and lamps are hung from support beams of wood all around the home. Kate knocked and a few seconds later the door opened, revealing a woman who looked just like Kate. "Katie!" The woman yelled then hugged her daughter, "I'm sorry the Magic Knight thing didn't work out." Kate became flustered, "Mom!" She gently pushed her off, "Why do you think I failed the exams?!" "You're home, aren't you? That means you failed." Kate sighed and pointed at her cloak, "Look." Her mom's eyes widened, "You did make it!" Her mother exclaimed. While in the progress of doing so, she saw Asta, "And I see you got yourself a boyfriend too! Oh, you're growing up so fast!" Both Knights' faces turned red, "Boyfriend?!" They exclaimed in union. Kate's mother approached the boy, "High mana and a strong body, you got yourself a package Katie!" She exclaimed as she examined Asta. He was too embarrassed and surprised to say anything. Kate on the other hand was trying to sputter out an explanation, "M-Mom- I- He- We- Ugh! Nevermind."

After awhile of that, they left off to patrol in other places. And one of those ended up being a restaurant called 'A Scarlet Ember'. "I'm kinda hungry, wanna stop there?" Asta asked , pointing at the building. "S-Sure." Kate hesitantly said. Asta opened the door for her and himself and walked in behind her. There were many tables and seats. Many people were inside eating to their stomachs content. Then Kate saw them, three girls, one blonde and wearing a baby blue dress, a second with black hair and wearing a pink long-sleeve and black tights, and lastly a red-head wearing a red dress. The mage gulped and slowly approached them, Asta following not far behind. Laughing is heard from the group as they close in. Then, finally, "Ahem." Kate cleared her throat. The group turned to the source and widened their eyes. A chuckle came from the blonde, "Wow, guess we were wrong." "Yeah." The red-head agreed. "Good job," The black-haired congratulated her friend. She slowly approached Asta, "Hey there, handsome. I'm Erika, how about we get to know each other better?" Asta's cheeks burned a light pink, "Oh, well, this is sudden." He stuttered. "S-Stop flirting with my squadmate in front of me!" Kate flusteredly yelled. Her friend, now known as Erika, hung her arms around Asta's neck, making him more nervous, "Why, jealous?" Her friends teased. Suddenly, a spark of fire flew to her hair and set it on fire. Erika went into a panic trying to set it out. Then, Asta heard footsteps and a sigh. He turned to the source to see the red-head walking towards him and Kate, "So you're Asta." She said calmly. "Yeah, how-" "When she first moved here, she ever stopped talking about you. It stopped but her letter to us are pracitcally filled about how much you've changed." She cut-off then explained to the boy. "I see." He replied, embarrassed by the info. "A-A-Alright! That's enough! Le, introduce yourself!" Kate yelled, trying to change the subject. The blonde girl got up from her chair and walked towards Asta, "I'm Helene, people usually call me Le, but I don't really care. And miss fire over here is Rebecca." She explained and tilted her head towards Rebecca watching her friend desperately put out the flame she caused. "May I ask what you two are doing here?" "We're on patrol and decided to grab something to eat." Asta, now calm, told her. "Well you came to the right place, my family owns this place. Give me a few and I'll be back with some stuff." Rebecca said, as she overhead their conversation.
