Distant howling disturbed Eyes' nap; the snowstorm outside growled and hissed, blowing draughts through any crevices it could.

They'd sought out refuge in on of the office bedrooms, the headboard of the king sized bed touching the window behind. There was two sets of bedside drawers, a toasty fireplace, a lidded desk and several paintings suspended by secured nails.

Eyes sighed, lowering their head to try and sleep again; it was long past work hours and there was next to no chance of anyone else being awake.

Rush, proving them wrong, crashed through the hallway the bedroom spanned off of, breaking every light in sight. The orange glow of the fireplace lit the room up with a lava hue as the flames danced atop the wooden logs.

Longing for company, Eyes huddled their knees to their chest, closing all their eyes at once and trying to clear their mind of thoughts.

I wonder what it would be like to be in a relationship..

An oddly human thought which they rubbed off as a joke. Implicitly, they desired a relationship; how they wished to be held in someone's arms, cradled close to their chest as they drifted off to sleep.

A loud crash from outside made Eyes scream, entirely accidentally. Jolting upright, they gasped for breath; they weren't typically so jumpy as nothing really slipped past them.

Two glowing white eyes peeked in from around the doorframe,"Everything okay in here, Eyes?"

Tightening their fists around the covers, Eyes nodded, but the violent shakiness of their trembling body had Screech convinced otherwise.

Approaching the quivering entity, Screech perched himself on the edge of the bed, close to the window as well as Eyes.

"Did you have a nightmare?" Screech inquired, a calming smile spreading on his face,"Was it Rush waking you up?"

Lowering their head, Eyes shamefully admitted it was the falling of snow outside. Screech didn't laugh or jeer at them, which took them by surprise.

"I'm pretty sure Guiding Light is up there shoveling the snow or something." Screech smirked, a light cackle snaking its way from his lips.

Eyes blinked, a very soothing, fluid motion of all their eyes closing and reopening at once,"I know, I know it's dumb."

"What's dumb?" Screech blankly asked, oblivious,"I heard you scream and I was concerned is all."

Bowing their head, Eyes couldn't bring themself to see Screech's pitiful expression. Screech, feeling a shift in the atmosphere, slung an arm onto Eyes' shoulders,"You look exhausted. How about you go to sleep?"

"I keep trying to, but I can't because I'm not comfy." Eyes explained, still not gaining the courage to look at Screech.

"Usually other people aren't able to look at you, but now you're not able to look at others." Screech tantalised, petting Eyes'shoulder.

Leaning to Screech, Eyes laid their head on his collarbone, closing their eyes.

Realising their mistake, Eyes imminently sat upright, their eyes gazing at Screech in fear,"I'm so sorry..I didn't.."

"..I don't mean to make you uncomfortable but...that was really comforting. If you want to lay on me, go ahead; I'm not bothered." Screech's smile returned, his gleaming white teeth standing against the vibrant orange hue of the fireplace.

Picking up where they left off, Eyes lowered their head and placed it onto Screech's collarbone. Humming a light tune to himself, Screech watched as Eyes sank down, their head sagging until they were laid with their head on his lap.

Shoving Eyes onto their back, Screech cuddled up to them, nuzzling his head on their face.

"Goodnight, Eyes." Screech whispered, cocooning Eyes in his arms, protecting them from the dangers of everything.
head. Nestling themself in the crook of Screech's neck, Eyes let out a breathy whine as their arms embraced Screech.

Rush's obnoxious cackle raced past, stopped in front of the open door. His hollow black eyes were fixed onto Screech and Eyes laid together.

"Well, what are you guys doing?" Rush smirked, stepping into the office.

Each step he took made the room shake, and the vibrations caused Screech to fully wake,"Just because you can't sleep doesn't mean we can't, Rush. Leave us alone."

"How cute; the two of you are hugged together for warmth." Rush stated, as if the obvious wasn't obvious,"Real cold outside, isn't it?"

"Yes, it is. Be quiet, Eyes is sleeping." Screech hushed, lifting his index finger to his lips.

Pulling their head further into Screech's shoulder, Eyes tightened their grasp on him. Cuddling into his chest, they gave a tired moan.

Resting his head atop theirs, Screech held them nearer to himself, sharing his body heat, murmuring to Rush,"If you could just go, I'd owe you one."

"I'm bored. Nobody is awake and I'm really lonely." Rush cried, boldly stepping into the room,"I just want someone to talk to."

"No! I'm busy, can't you see?" Screech hissed, his tentacles flaring upward in an agitated movement.

Having the upper hand, Rush smirked,"Well, I'll just tell the others you're sleeping with Eyes."

Narrowing his eyes to slits, Screech scowled,"Of course you'd stoop that low."

His gleaming grin widened,"So, how are you doing?"

"I'm really good, probably better if you left." Screech passive-aggressively hissed, his teeth harshly gritted.

Despite his anger, he remained at a volume that didn't wake Eyes. Their peaceful slumbering state grew a smile on Screech's visage.

Remorsefully, Rush tilted his head,"I know, I should probably get going and leave you two be. I know how much you mean to them."

Screech's head perked up, and he stared directly at Rush,"What do you mean?"

"I've heard them talk about you many times in passing conversation." Rush admitted, a subtle nod accompanying his words,"I'd best let you two get to whatever it is you're doing."

Waving, Rush bade a friendly farewell to the couple, shutting the door behind him.

Getting back to what he was doing, Screech lowered his head to the pillow, nudging his face against Eyes'.

"Goodnight, Eyes. Sleep well."
