Eyes was in their bedroom, a little self-conscious after some players had been cruel to them. Admittedly, they'd had their fair share of insults from humans with burned eyes, but they were so much ruder than usual. It wasn't their fault they inflicted damage onto humans for staring.

Wounded, Eyes laid their head on the headboard of their bed, sighing as they listened to what the humans said, the voices replaying in their mind to spite them and ruin their victory.

"That thing is hideous!"

"Oh my God, kill it!"

"It's so disgusting it physically hurts our eyes."

"I wouldn't want to see it, even if I could."

Hanging their head shamefully, Eyes held back tears. They knew they shouldn't take the things the humans said to heart, but most of the other entities tended to get nice comments here and there. They'd never gotten one nice comment. Even Seek, the ruthless sociopathic one, got a compliment here and there. Humans insisted he was 'cool' and 'horrific'.

All they got were insults, and it wasn't fair. Bundling their knees close to their chest, they sobbed about it helplessly.

"Why am I the one nobody likes? I'm just as good as everyone else!" Eyes cried, their many eyes beginning to water.

"Who told you that you aren't?" Halt asked, tilted against the doorframe in a smug stance.

It was uncharacteristic of Halt to approach them, or even speak to them for that matter. Halt was heavily introverted, and never spoke to anyone unless he was told to or in a meeting.

Bewildered, Eyes quit crying and looked up at him,"..the humans did.."

Halt seemed to consider the response, processing something comforting to say,"Why do you care about the humans? Are you..seeing one in secret or keeping one hostage?"

"No, they're just being rude to me and I'm just a bit hurt by the things they said. I know I probably shouldn't take anything they say to heart, but they're so critical at times." Eyes murmured, their gaze flitting from the floor to Halt.

Approaching Eyes, Halt patted them on the back," I wouldn't listen to them. What would they know about your character? You're very considerate of others, very reserved and your opinion is very valuable. I find your input quite useful, and your honestly is admirable; you tell the truth despite consequences."

Halt's reassuring words brought Eyes a comfort, as if a weight was hoisted from their shoulders and left to blow on the wind,"..You think of me like that? That's what you honestly think of me?"

"Honestly? Well, there's a lot more I could say about you, but I think I'll keep the list there." Halt teased, knowing Eyes wanted him to continue. The pleading look in all 37 of their eyes made him continue,"Fine then. You also are an incredible listener, you have an incredible sense of empathy for an entity and you're a welcoming, friendly person. You have a specific aura to you, like the atmosphere of a fresh spring morning."

Eyes was on the brink of tears,"Halt..that's so sweet of you.."

"Well, it's only because you're so sweet to me.." Halt muttered, feeling his cheeks warm at the words.

"Honestly, you're on of the greatest entities here. You're so quiet and introverted, but you know when someone needs you to speak up. I like that." Eyes was beaming brightly, their irises vibrant and lively.

Throwing their arms around Halt, Eyes embraced him,"You're my best friend, you know that, right?"

"..no..? I don't..really talk much to you..or at least not as much as I should.." Halt mumbled under his breath as he continued to pat Eyes on the back.

"Can we just..stay here like this? Would you be comfortable if I just stayed here like this for a bit?" Eyes requested, a strong sense of desire in their words.

Though Halt sounded reluctant, he was secretly appreciative of the entity's closeness,"Fine. We'll stay like this until you get off."

"Really?" Eyes perked up, sounding ecstatic.

Their glare was shining with the appreciation they held, and Halt couldn't help but get caught up in it.

"Halt, you're staring into my eyes again. Are you asleep with your eyes open like normal?" Eyes innocently questioned, glimpsing up at him.

"There's..something I'd like to ask, actually.." Halt's voice trailed off, growing weaker at every syllable said.

With piqued interest, Eyes desperately urged him to continue with various hand gestures.

"..I don't.. fall asleep with my eyes open. I don't zone out or forget to blink. I really admire your eyes, and everything about you, really. Must be weird for an introvert like me to say that, but you're the only person I feel comfortable around. I just like you a lot, is all."

Halt's nervous body language let Eyes know he was very regretful; it was their chance to return the kindness he'd shown them.

"I actually really like you too, Halt. You're a phenomenal friend to me and I admire the strength it took you to get out of your comfort zone and tell me that. Thank you. I needed to hear that today." Eyes said, an appreciative tone in their voice,"And I don't want to let go just yet."

"What makes you think a guy like me had any redeeming qualities? What do you see in me that's so wonderful?" Halt's monotone voice dared to ask, a genuine confusion mixed in.

Eyes asked themself that; what was so enticing about Halt? Was it the reserved nature of him, or the way he knew when to speak to brighten up peoples' moods? The selflessness he had when it came to cheering up others, and how he'd drop everything he was doing to reassure them and fix their self esteem? Probably.

"There's so many great things about you Halt, and I'd love for you to be my boyfriend. If you want to, of course."from Eyes chirped, burying their head his chest.

"I'd like it if we didn't tell the others, because it's none of their business to know. We don't need them interrupting or ruining this." Halt informed them, a sternness in him.

"Don't worry, I won't tell anyone. Not without your approval at least."

They continued to huddle into his chest, a smirk growing on their face.

I'm so, so happy. Nothing can ruin my mood.
