"Imani Williams!"
The sound of my dad's deep voice woke me up with a jump. I raised my head up to see my dad in his work clothes standing in my doorway with a 'you're in trouble' look on his face. One I haven't seen since early middle school.
I looked out my window and it was broad daylight.
"What happened?" I asked, rubbing my forehead.
"It's nine Imani, you were supposed to be at school thirty minutes ago." He spoke loud and sternly.
"Shit!" I jumped up, realizing I had fallen asleep last night and stayed asleep. I ran into the bathroom not giving my dad anymore time to lecture me.
It was only my second day and I was already making a bad impression on myself. I stared at myself in the mirror. Eyes droopy, and my tangled hair that stood upright from sleeping on it. Not to forget my wrinkly uniform that I slept with.
Kill me now.
Fifteen minutes was all it took for me to be downstairs. I washed myself up and slicked my hair back into a bun. For my uniform I didn't have much time to iron it so I did my best with trying to flatten it out, which didn't help much.
I ran out the front door hopping on my left foot trying to put my right shoe on. I headed straight towards the driveway to find my dad's car not being there stopping me in my tracks. I threw my head back and felt like throwing a temper tantrum.
Of course my dad wouldn't have waited for me, he was mad and obviously had to go to work. This was my fault and I had to deal with the consequences.
I checked my phone to see when the next bus was coming.
"Thirty four minutes, funny." I stuffed my phone into the side of my backpack.
I remembered the visa gift card I had somewhere in my room that I'm sure had money in it. I could order an Uber to school just this once. I ran into the house hoping that the card didn't grow legs and run away.

It was nine twenty four and I was around the corner from my school. Thank God for Uber's.
My head has been all over the place since this morning and I wanted nothing else than to just be at school to get this morning out of the books because it was never happening again.
"Right here is fine." I told the uber driver.
"Alright then," He responded, bending his head low to get a better view of the school from the passenger seat window.
"A very good school, you should feel very proud of yourself." He added, looking at his phone.
"Yeah, thanks. Have a good one." I responded by stepping out of the car and closing the door.
Proud my ass.
I had the Uber driver drop me off on the side of the school as this building had big ass windows and I didn't really wanna deal with the controversy of coming out of an Uber, not to mention late as well.
As I made my way to the front of the school, I saw a group of people huddled behind a bush from the corner of my eye. Not having any intention of trying to figure out who it is, I kept my head straight forward with my eyes down.
"Williams." Fuck. That voice once again. I stopped walking and shut my eyes tightly wishing I could make myself disappear.
I heard him coming up from behind me. I opened my eyes and sighed, irritated. I spun on my heel and crossed my arms once my gaze met his.
