The lunch lady interrupted me from walking away into the distance of a bunch of students,
"Excuse me, you need to grab a fruit." I turned back and looked at the selection of fruits, and quickly grabbed whatever was close to me which was a pear.
I scurried my way out of line and found myself in the center of the cafeteria. Squinting my eyes I looked around the cafeteria to find Mal's red hair, since every single table was full of brunettes and blondes.
"Imani!" I turned around to the sound of my name.
"Over here!" Avery yelled out kneeling on her seat and waving her hand to get my attention. Luckily everybody was too busy talking to pay any attention to me, which I gladly appreciated.
I made my way over to their table that was filled with three girls and four boys. Two out of whom I recognized, until I laid my eyes on him. Why was he everywhere I went?
"Come, come sit." Mal said, moving over to make space for me. I placed my tray down and took a seat.
"Imani, this is Mal whom you have already met." I smiled at her and she responded with one back.
"This is Paisley," She pointed at the blonde petite girl sitting across from her. She had round plump glossy lips, and big round blue eyes. She had the clean type of look, with her hair also pushed back with a dark blue headband just like Avery.
"Hi"
"Hi" She responded, giving me the most fakest smile I've ever received in my life. I hoped that was just her way of smiling, and I wouldn't have to worry about someone who didn't like me already.
"Joseph," Avery continued naming everybody. He nodded at me and I smiled back. He was a simple brunette boy, but that didn't mean he wasn't attractive.
"Anthony and Arron,"
"Hey." Anthony responded, and I received a nod from Arron. Anthony didn't look fully white, he had some ethnic features in him. While Aaron was a blonde typical white boy with braces who didn't seem to care much of my presence.
"And, Eli aka Elliot." My eyes met his, which again looked very uninterested.
"We've met." He spoke out looking me dead in the eye. What is up with him and his staring problems?
"You have?" Both Avery and Paisley spoke at the same time.
"Yeah, we have. We are in the same Trigonometry class." I replied, ripping my gaze from his.
"You didn't tell me that" Paisley said looking at Elliot waiting for an answer.
"It slipped my mind, why does it matter anyways?" He asked fiddling with his plastic spork. Were they a thing or something?
"So how's your day been going?" Mal asked me.
"It's been good, I think I'm gonna sign up for the debate tea-" The sound of coughing interrupted me. I looked away from Mal's face to find Elliot being the one coughing on his food. Was it the debate thing that made him nearly choke on his food?
Paisley patted softly on his back like that was gonna do anything. What was he a baby?
"How are you getting used to the campus?" Joseph asked, taking a bite out of his pear.
"It's pretty difficult but i'm getting there. It's much bigger than I thought."
"Yeah it's pretty huge, but you'll get used to it. I remember when Joseph would constantly try to show me around even when I made it clear that I knew my way around. I think it was his way of telling me he liked me." Avery said.
