When it came to writing Lone Survivors instead of specific songs I listened to albums. Specifically the albums of the bands that were on the Trinity of Terror tour. I will list them below, one thing that I do with each album I listen to is pick a favorite song. It's just something I've done with each band that I listen to. With the introduction out of the way let's get started.

1. Welcome to Horrorwood: The Silver Scream 2 Ice Nine Kills

A fun fact about this album, it's the one that got me into Ice Nine Kills. I first heard the song "Assault and Batteries" on one of my Spotify daily mixes. The intro of the song had me staring at my phone in confusion and when Spencer's voice kicked in I was hooked. This album, to me anyway has no skippable songs and it's extremely difficult to just pick one song of this record as my favorite. In the end, I would choose "Hip To Be Scared" Featuring Jacoby Shaddix.

2. The Silver Scream (The Final Cut) Ice Nine Kills

Call me a sucker for deluxe versions but I love a good album that has bonus tracks and acoustic sets. I would open every morning at work listening to these two albums and when I had downtime I used them to create this fan fiction. My absolute favorite song off this record is "IT Is The End" featuring members of the Ska Band Less than Jake. One of the cool things about my favorite song is that it did propel the finale chapters forward and helped create Spencer's demonic counterpart Dev.

3. Scoring the End of the World Motionless In White

When Lone Survivors first waltzed onto the scene the boys of Motionless of White only had a handful of songs out for this record. The title track "Scoring The End Of The World" completely inspired the finale chapter and the showdown scene between Ricky Olson and Kaitlynn Porter. It is definitely one of my favorite albums by them, but it's really hard to pick just one record to call my favorite.

4. The Phantom Tomorrow Black Veil Brides

In the beginning I'll be the first to admit I was not a fan of this album. I only loved a handful of songs and it felt like their weakest album. When the Trinity of Terror tour got announced I sought this record out again to fully prep myself with all the possibilities of what Andy would pick for the setlist. Unfortunately for me, Black Veil Brides was not able to perform at my date (even though in this fan fic they did play in Oshkosh, Wisconsin). My favorite song off this album is "Torch" and I did listen to it quite a bit when it came to writing the scenes where Kaitlynn experienced great loss.

5. THE DEATH OF PEACE OF MIND Bad Omens.

The title track "The Death of Peace of Mind" is my absolute favorite off this record and the very theme of Lone Survivors. It inspired the relationship between Kaitie and Spencer. The two of them knew that if they got to together any hope they were going to have of gaining peace of mind would become nonexistent unless they stopped the evil that was following them on the Trinity of Terror tour.

6. Every Trick In The Book Ice Nine Kills

I will admit, the three albums that you see here by Ice Nine Kills are the three I usually go to. That's not to say I haven't listened to all of them because I have. I can say that I have and they're okay. They certainly blossomed into their own with these three. "The Nature of the Beast" my fav song off this record is what inspired the relationship between Spencer and our friendly neighborhood demon. Writing the parts from Spencer's perspective were always interesting because of this concept.

I had these six albums on repeat quite a bit during the writing process, but that doesn't mean I didn't have some solo songs that I listened to.

1. Hunting Season - Ice Nine Kills

Ironically enough this did have "Lone Survivor" in its lyrics and I found myself chuckling a little bit at the wordplay there.

2. Johnny's Revenge - Crown the Empire featuring Craig Owens, Spencer Charnas, and Dave Stephens)

This song right here got me into the band Crown The Empire. It's rare that a song for me inspires a character. The moment it came out I was like "I have to have a character in Lone Survivors named Johnny" and the character Johnny Keller was born. Son of Detective Christian Keller he plays a crucial role in helping Kaitlynn Porter and Spencer Charnas discover the identity of their parents killer.

3. Dioma - Jnathyn

I heard this techno track at A Day To Remember, Beartooth, and Bad Omens show. By this show I was about halfway through with Lone Survivors and searching for the right way to bring it to its conclusion. This song played over the radio speaker and thanks to my husband I was able to listen to it on Spotify on the way home.

Well there you have it, the albums and songs that inspired this fan fiction. I had so much fun writing this story. I loved the characters and the world I created. It was really cool doing the research for this because I discovered things I didn't even know. If you're curious about these songs give them a listen on Spotify or any music platform that you utilize.

Thank you to all who followed Kaitlynn's journey.
