Once El got back from school Will went to her room. She turned her head to him and seemed relieved. "Will, where have you been?" She asked walking over to him.
"I've.. I... I've been with Mike. Vecna's back, El. I can feel it. The black clouds the endless pits. Vecna's almost regenerated and we need to stop him." El's eyebrows furrowed. She knew she'd have to fight him off eventually but this soon? She wasn't ready.
"Okay, I'll look for him." She said. El quickly got up grabbing a scarf for a blind fold and turned on the shower head.
El then sat down on the tile floor and Will followed.
"I'm here for you if anything." Will said reassuringly. El nodded and then covered her eyes. She had Vecna's face pictured in her mind and was thrown into darkness. El looked around frantically. She turned to see Will and Mike.
"Will?" She called. Just then Mike kissed Will. Her eyes widened.
"What..?" Then they disappeared.
"Will!" El yelled. Then the two reappeared but in a van. "California.." El mumbled. Will was crying his hand over his mouth. Mike was behind him. 'Why am I seeing this? I'm supposed to be seeing Vecna.' El thought.
The memory was once again swept back into the darkness. El turned her head to see Vecna. She stumbled backwards. Her breathing became heavy. "You're looking for me... Spying on me will only motivate me to speed up what I've been working on." He said in his deep voice. El kept a straight face.
"Anyway, I've been right here this whole time. There's only one way to stop this but you will never do it." He said calling her bluff. El couldn't speak, her expression shifted to that of fear.
"They killed you...?" She asked.
"Now there's only one place in which I can reside and you know exactly where that is. Where it all started for your friends, Eleven. I should say who, shouldn't I..?"
"No.. NO!" She screamed in realization.
"EL?! EL!" She heard Will's voice breaking.
"I've been watching. I've been waiting. I've been doing this through your own brother."
"NO, WILL! WILL!" El screamed in agony.
Will pulled the scarf from her eyes.
"EL! I'm here, I'm here, you're okay!" He said embracing her.
"It's okay." He rubbed her back. El couldn't even speak. She couldn't tell him. Would she do it? Would she really kill her own brother? El pulled away.
"What did you see, where is he?" Will asked.
"I.." El tried to come up with something.
"I saw nothing." El answered.
"What?" Will asked confused. He had heard her screaming in fear, how could she have not seen anything? "El, are you sure? I-"
"I said I saw nothing, Will." El said getting up abruptly. She turned off the shower and walked out of the bathroom. Will watched her and then he looked down. Then he looked back over and El was gone. He sighed. He knew she was hiding something. He knew it must've been something really bad.
While this was happening Mike had been trying to regroup his friends to help. "Lucas, please! I know you're afraid but we need you!" Mike pleaded.
"I can't do this again, I just can't! Mike, you don't know what it's like to lose someone li-" He paused.
"I don't know what it's like?!" Mike yelled.
"I lost Will, I lost El, then I lost Will again and you're saying I don't know what it's like?!" Mike yelled.
"THEY CAME BACK!" Lucas yelled louder. It went silent. "You're gonna have to do this without me." Lucas mumbled walking out of his room.
"W-well, when the whole world goes to shit because you weren't there to help-.. You're... gonna regret it.." Mike yelled growing quieter and quieter.
Next was Dustin. "Mike, I don't know.." Dustin said unsure. "Please, Lucas won't help us, please help. We need you!" Mike pleaded.
"Mike, I can't do this. I lost Eddie, I'm.."
"If you stay out of this you're likely to lose more people!" Mike explained. Dustin lifted his head.
"You're right." He said. Mike went to respond
"Thank yo-"
"You're right, we are going to lose people but we're going to lose them either way. This is hopeless. We stand no chance..." Dustin mumbled. "
No.. no, Dustin, come on." Mike followed Dustin as he walked to the other side of the room.
"I won't be any help, Mike." Dustin ignored.
Mike continued to push. "You will! You always are! Please!" Mike begged.
"No, Mike." Eddie's death had changed him. He'd been less cheerful since then, nothing anyone said or did could help him.
"Actually doing something to help would be better than nothing. Eddie didn't die just for you to give up!" Mike yelled storming out of Dustin's room. The last thing Mike said seemed to stick with Dustin yet he ignored. Mike couldn't get through to his friends.
When Mike stepped outside he saw hell. Demogorgons were scattered around Hawkins. Mike felt his heart sink. He ran back into Dustin's house. "DUSTIN, THERE ARE DEMOGORGONS OUTSIDE! DOES THAT CONVINCE YOU?!" Mike yelled. Dustin felt his heart drop. He hurried to his window.
"Shit." He whispered and then ran downstairs. Dustin's mom was on the couch and was startled by the outburst.
On the TV he heard "Wild animals are invading Hawkins, staying in doors is mandatory! I repeat staying in doors is mandatory! We will update you when we figure out what these animals are!" The news reporter explained.
"Mom, mom, mom, mom! Lock yourself in the basement right now!" Dustin yelled pushing her.
"Dusty?! Dusty, what's happening, what are you doing?!" She yelled.
"HURRY, MOM!" He yelled pushing her into the basement. He took a box of cereal and water bottles throwing them in. He then closed it and looked around for something to cover it with. He ran over to the living room.
"Mike, help me with this?" Dustin said trying to push the couch over.
"Alright." Mike ran over and helped him push it all the way to the basement.
He pushed it over and then yelled "I love you mom, stay trapped, see you later!" He then follows Mike who was bolting for the door.
"So what the fuck are we going to do?!" He yelled.
"I'm not sure yet but-"
"MIKE!" Dustin yelled.
"Will is talking with El! Don't worry, we'll get.." The whole town was decorated for Christmas in which would be arriving in short time. A day from now. Mike slowed down near a gun store that no one was in due to the "wild animals" outside.
"Come with me." Mike ran into the now abandoned gun shop. He quickly gathered a bunch of guns and ammo. Dustin was also gathering guns and ammo like crazy.
"Is this enough?!" Dustin yelled.
"Probably, I don't know!" Mike yelled running out of the store back towards his house but realized Will's house was closer to where he was. He ran over to Will's door knocking frantically dropping a few ammo cases.
"OPEN UP OPEN UP OPEN UP OPEN-" Dustin was cut off by Hopper who opened the door, Joyce right behind. They were wide eyed.
"What. The. Hell?" Hopper mumbled.
"Thank you!" Mike yelled running in, Dustin right behind him.
"What- what's happening?!" Joyce yelled. Hopper locked the door. Will and El ran out from their rooms along with Jonathan right behind them. "Demogorgons.. everywhere... my mom.... basement... gun shop...... GUNS!" Dustin explained poorly out of breath. Hopper ran to a window and watched the demogorgons running around.
"Do you see anything?" Jonathan asked running over to look.
"Fuck." Hopper mumbled.
"Mike, are you okay?" Will ran over worried.
"I'm fine!" Mike said still holding a bunch of guns and ammo. Will picked up some and the two laid them onto the table. El walked over to her dad.
"It's happening." Hopper turned his head to her.
"What is?"
"What he's been working on..."
