Mike's eyes shot open and he sat upwards. He turned his head over to Will's body that was still. "Will...?" Mike's voice shook as he crawled to him. "Will.. wake up.." Mike noticed the same wound in his chest that appeared in Will's mind. He was really gone. "No..." Mike laid his head onto Will sobbing.
Lucas, Dustin, and El slowly woke up. El still had no arm, she took it as her karma for allowing this to happen.
"Mike, I know how you're feeling bu-"
"Shut up!" Mike mumbled. Lucas stayed quiet wiping the tears from his eyes.
"He's our friend too, Mike!" Dustin yelled through tears. Mike stood up angry.
"NO! You... EL! You KNEW what was going to happen! YOU AND WILL HID IT FROM US!"

"Mike, it was the only way!" El tried to explain. Lucas and Dustin's eyes widened by what they were hearing.
"EL, DO YOU KNOW WHAT YOU JUST DID TO ME?!"
"Mike, he agreed to it! He knew the risks! He knew he'd die, he did it for you.. For all of you!" El explained.
"All he wanted was for us to be happy!" She cried.
"EL-"
"IT WASN'T JUST YOU WHO LOST HIM!" El yelled.

"You lied to me." Mike uttered.
"I'm sorry.." El mumbled.  Mike fell down onto his knees hugging himself. Head on the floor.
"Fuck.. no...." Mike cried. Dustin and Lucas walked over and hugged him.
"It's going to be okay." Dustin said.
"I said that so many times to him.. I lied to him." Mike cried harder.
"You were only trying to comfort him." Lucas reminded. El walked to the window.
"Guys, it's sunny outside. The upside down.. It's gone." El announced.

"I killed him." Mike mumbled. He pushed everyone off of him and ran to his room. Dustin looked at Will and then turned away crying into his hands.
"Will, he did it for us.. He saved us." Lucas explained.
"He saved us and I couldn't even play one stupid game of DnD seriously for him..." Lucas remembered. El squeezed her eyes shut and a tear slipped down her cheek. Just then Joyce ran up the stairs.

"It worked!" Joyce yelled. Jonathan was right behind her with a smile, a rare sight to see on him.
"You guys did it somehow! I can't beli-" When the two walked in the room they went quiet. Dustin couldn't even look and he turned away. "Will?!" Joyce yelled running to Will's side.
"Will! Wh-what happened?!" Jonathan yelled at the three in the room.
"He saved everyone." El confessed. Joyce looked up in horror. She then looked down and cried holding onto him.
"Will, baby! I'm here, I'm here, I'm here...!" Joyce repeated. Jonathan walked over and started to cry with Joyce.

Dustin and Lucas walked out of the room, the scene too hard to stay for. El stood still crying. "How d-did this happen?! Why?!" Joyce yelled.
"Vecna was attatched to him and when we killed him Will died with him." El explained through tears. "He knew that he was going to die. I told him he would. He didn't care. He did it for us." El admitted.

Jonathan's expression turned to that of bitterness.
"OF COURSE HE DID, THAT'S WHAT WILL DOES! HOW COULD YOU LET HIM DO THIS?! DIDN'T YOU CARE ABOUT HIM AT ALL?!" Jonathan screamed. El started to cry even harder. Jonathan instantly regretted yelling at her and took her into his arms. "I'm sorry... I'm sorry.." The two hugged each other tightly. Hopper heard the yelling and ran upstairs. He knew what he was walking into as he slowed down when walking towards the room, Nancy and Steve right behind him.

Once they walked into the room and saw Will, Steve felt his heart drop. "Is he..?"
"He's dead." El said abruptly. Steve looked around.
"Where's Dustin?"
"He left." El mumbled. Steve ran out of the room and down the stairs. Nancy started scanning the room for her brother knowing how he'd react.
"Where's Mike?" She asked.
"In his room." Hopper seemed angered by this and he looked to El who shook her head. Hopper calmed down feeling guilty for being angry at the boy at all. Joyce cried into Hopper and he hugged her. Nancy then went into the hall to see her brother. She knocked but got no response. She then opened it anyway.

"Mike."
"Go.." Mike ordered weakly.
"Mike, I'm so sorry.." She came closer and hugged him. Mike started to cry once again.
"Why did it have to be him? Why..?" Mike asked. Hopper listened to Mike's cries and finally put the pieces together. He looked at Will and tears started to fall from his eyes. He had been caring for Joyce's kids as if they were his own. This would be anything but easy for him to do.

"Joyce, I have to get his body out of here." Hopper said softly. Joyce let go of him and cried into her hands. She knew that this time her son was truly gone and she was in despair. El and Jonathan walked over hugging her. Hopper picked up Will and then walked out of the room. Mike watched him walk down the stairs with him.

"W-WILL!" Mike shouted pushing Nancy off of him. He ran out his door and down the stairs to Will. "LET HIM GO, LET HIM GO!" Mike yelled trying to take Will from Hopper.
"Mike, stop it, stop!" Eventually Hopper let Mike take hold of him. Mike's tears dropped onto Will's face. Mike's eyes were glued onto him.
All that time he'd wasted. That whole time Will had loved him, he had loved Will. All they got were a few days together and that's it.

"You can come with me to say goodbye, okay?" Hopper said. Mike squeezed his eyes shut and nodded finally understanding that it was truly over. The two then walked out of the door into the town of Hawkins that was finally back to how it used to be. Nancy watched her brother go with Will in his arms from the doorstep. Karen slowly walked down next to her.
"What just happened? Where is Mike going?" She asked.
"Come with me.. I'll tell you everything." She took her mother's hand and pulled her towards her room.

The sun was finally out and everyone was free from Vecna but without Will the people who were close to him would forever be haunted by his sacrifice. Mike knew he would never find a love like what he had with Will. There was nothing like that love. Even in Will's final moments he kept a brave face for Mike. Mike couldn't stop playing every moment on repeat.
Every time he had messed up with Will, hurt him. Every time he had kissed him. Every time he and him had played DnD.

A Christmas Day three years ago spiraled this nightmare into motion. That day was the first time Mike had lost Will and with this Christmas he had lost Will for the last time.
