*About 2 days later, after Lucerys was reaffirmed as the heir to Driftmark*
Eddard and Rhaenyra saunter through Dragonstone's hallways together, with Midnight behind them. Their arm is wrapped around the other's arm, so they walk closely side by side. Eddard is genuinely happy and cannot stop grinning. Not only that, but he can't quit staring down at her growing baby bump and giving it discreet caresses and soft pets
"What do you think our next child will be, my love?" Eddard asks her.
"Definitely a boy." Rhaenyra answers. "I've only given you boys." she tells him.
"Well, based on my intuition, I think this child will be a girl. And she'll turn out to be the most beautiful girl the Seven Kingdoms have ever seen." Eddard says to her. "A girl of ice and fire." he adds.
"You think it's possible for a girl to be more beautiful than Beira & Rieka?" Rhaenyra wonders.
"You're probably right." Eddard agrees. "She'll be just as beautiful as them." he corrects.
"It'll be quite the challenge." Rhaenyra jokes.
Husband & wife smile at each other as Eddard chuckles. The support Rhaenyra has for her husband and his children with Vhaela is definitely something to be grateful for. She loves his Stark-Velaryon children just as much as her own
They enter the Chamber of the Painted Table to see their son Lucerys studying the island of Driftmark on the map that is the Painted Table
"There you are." Rhaenyra calls out to him.
This causes Lucerys to look up to see his mother & father, along with his gigantic direwolf
"The Sea Snake is going to die, isn't he?" he asks them.
"Luke--" Eddard begins to say, but his son cuts him off.
"I can't be Lord of the Tides." Lucerys admits to his parents. "Grandsire was the greatest sailor who ever lived. I get green sick before the ship even leaves the harbor." he explains. "I'll just ruin everything." he adds. "I don't want Driftmark." he tells them. "It should've passed on to Ser Vaemond." he insists.
"We don't choose our destiny, Luke." Eddard informs him.
"It chooses us." Rhaenyra adds.
"Grandsire let you choose whether you'd be his heir." Lucerys says to her. "You told us so." he reminds her.
"And do you want to know the truth of it?" Rhaenyra asks him as she walks closer to him. "I was frightened." she reveals. "I was... four-and-ten. Same as you are now." she begins. "I wasn't ready to be Queen of the Seven Kingdoms. But... it was my duty. And, in time, I came to understand I had to earn my inheritance... and so I did. With the aid of your father." she explains to him as the couple stands in front of their son.
"I'm not like you 2." Lucerys says to them.
"In what way, sweet boy?" Rhaenyra asks him, confused.
"I'm not so... perfect." Lucerys answers.
This causes Eddard to chuckle as Rhaenyra steps forward. She presses her forehead against Lucerys' before tenderly kissing his temple a few times. She then momentarily cups the cheeks of her son
"We are anything but." Rhaenyra informs him. "My father looked after me and helped prepare me for my duties. Your mother will do the same for you and so will your father." she promises him.
