Ch.24 Mirage Enemies

*The next day.

Leopold: Vergil. You ready?

Vergil: There is a change of plans. I will travel alone.

Leopold: What? Why?

Vergil: I don't want to have anyone else in the crossfire. Enough lives have been lost on this journey.

Leopold: You sure you can defeat him?

Vergil: I will fight until I fall. 

Charlie: What if you die?

Vergil: I won't. I have a future that will keep me going.

Charlie: When are you leaving? 

Vergil: I have one more thing to do before I leave.

*Vergil heads to Octavia's room.

*Knocking

Vergil: Via?

Octavia: What?

Vergil: I want to talk.

Octavia: Quickly.

*Vergil enters to see Octavia by her window with slight tears.

Vergil: Your thoughts dwell on your father.

Octavia: Now you made it worst.

Vergil: It's alright to cry, even for a devil.

Octavia: It's hard to believe that this has happened. Why them? 

Vergil: I will make sure he is brought down. 

Octavia: I just wish I could disappear.

Vergil: I thought the same thing when my mother died. I felt like I had no reason to live.

Octavia: What made you keep going?

Vergil: Filling the void, learning from my mistakes, amending.

Octavia: You trying to tell me I should do the same? 

Vergil: No.

Octavia: Then why are you here?

Vergil: *Sigh Your mother hated to see you in tears like last night.

Octavia: Yeah sure.

Vergil: She wanted the best life she could give.

Octavia: Hmph yeah right. she told you that before she died. That's what she said. I know her and she would just yell at you until she died.

Vergil: She wanted me to look over you, protect you, be what she could not be.

Octavia: She said that?

Vergil: She felt the sadness when Stolas died. Stolas wants you to live a full life and be protected.

Octavia: Yeah and I have no one to do so.

Vergil: You do.

Octavia: Who am I going to go to? 

Vergil: I won't let you live alone like I did. I claim it as my new responsibility.  

Octavia: You would do that?

Vergil: Filling the void can be hard. It does not have to be filled alone. Would you be willing to accept me as a father figure?

Octavia: I can't believe you would be willing to do that. Raise someone like me, we are very different. 

Vergil: This is a new start for both of us.

*Octavia gets up

Octavia: I would be willing to give you a shot.

*Octavia hugs Vergil.
