Heiress 101
CHAPTER ii

The loud slap echoed through the hallway. General Collin Pierce winced at the brutal sound. He knew the apple was poisoned. He knew what she was planning to do. And he let her do it.

Before entering the throne room, he raised his right hand. A gesture to make 10 soldiers behind him to stop.

"Confiscate Princess Avry's collection of potions. Search for it in her room and library. Go. Now." They turned and marched away.

He opened the double doors and saw King Vlad Morgan Crest glaring at a figure on the floor. The queen, Allina, remained silent even at the sight of blood all over the floor. She didn't even flinch when the king stood up and kicked Avry in the gut.

After all, she isn't her real mother.

All the Council Lords are sitting on their high seats. The scene seems to be entertaining them. A princess that ran away because she was offered to marry the most powerful bachelor. And now being tortured. Very entertaining indeed.

"Ah, General, good morning. I heard you fell asleep while pursuing my daughter." The king laughed and the rest of the nobles followed.

He bowed half-heartedly and said, "Your daughter is quite talented, Your Majesty."

"Not quite." All his humor was gone; replaced by an evil glare. A guard took a whip with sharp thorns and gave it to the king. He looked at Pierce and then to the whip.

Pierce only stared. Fearless and ready for his punishment. But what the king said next was worse than what he has prepared for.

"Do the honors, General Pierce. Whip her until she learns her lesson. Don't stop until daylight." He flashed one last hateful smile and left the room with the queen.

Pierce remained standing. He scanned the room and saw that the nobles haven't left yet. They want to see Avry being whipped. Maze Hellcross stood beside her.

Her own fiancé.

General Pierce grabbed the whip and studied it. It was made of gold but the thorns are sharpened snake wood. Lignum vitae.

"I made it myself." He stared at the speaker.

"And you're proud of it." Even if it will be used on the princess bethroted to you.

Maze's face made him sick. He wanted to tear his cocky smile off of his ugly face.

Maze shrugged then looked at Avry. She isn't moving. "You're lucky you can use it first. Enjoy." He winked and left the room as well.

The coward can't stand to watch such brutality against his future wife then.

Pierce unleashed the whip. It was so expertly made. The crowd started cheering like pigs. If it was someone else he would have started hours ago and enjoy it.

But she wasn't just someone else. She was his...

He raised his arm. Ready to hit the lifeless figure on the ground. He can't... he must.

The sound of her scream was all that General Collin Pierce could hear. The cheer of the crowd was inaudible. He was deaf at everything else. But not her cries. Not her screams. Not her pain.

The tenth blow slashed her neck. It paralyzed him. He stopped moving as she choked on her own blood. Avry gasped desperately for air but she couldn't breathe. Tears filled her eyes as she tried to crawl away from her punisher. But her whole body ached and she doesn't even have an ounce of strength to talk.

He dropped the cursed lash and wiped Avry's face with his handkerchief. 3 royal nurses hesistantly approached and cleaned her wounds. The nobles started to leave but one was daring enough to speak out loud.

"I see that the dog is disobeying his master now."

He looked up to search for the owner of the voice but he couldn't find him.

Yet one thing is for sure... his master is himself alone.
