Heriess 101
CHAPTER iv"A letter? From who again?" Avry asked, really confused. She had to hear it again.
"From General Collin Pierce, Your Highness." The servant said.
Avry stared at the letter again, inspecting it. It was a black envelope with the General's seal and it also smelled good. She dismissed the servant and hesitantly opened the letter. And inside was a message that could never possibly be written by a heartless murderer like Collin Pierce.
Truly in my heart I deeply regret what I have done. I never meant to cause you pain but due to the fact that it was my King's command I had no other choice but to follow.
It has given me a sleepless night and an aching heart. I am so sorry, Avry. Please give me a chance to lessen this barrier of hate that we feel towards each other.
Tonight. 11 pm. Go to the stables and take the single white horse and feed it with a carrot. Let it sniff the rest then ride it. It will take you to where I am waiting.
I will wait no matter how long. Please give me a chance...
C. Pierce
The letter amused her and gave her a feeling of excitement. She was curious of how things will turn out if she went. Maybe what Heather said was true..
"Tht he's in love with me." Avry highly doubted the possibilities but she was a curious lady and this character of Collin Pierce bugged her. She must see for herself of how he really is. Has he really changed?
She won't let herself miss it.

The stables were quiet and the servants were asleep as well. Avry sneeked inside and saw a white horse trying to reach a bucket of carrots with its mouth. It was hanged on a wall and the horse couldn't reach it.
She remembered the instructions clearly and took one carrot from the bucket and gave it to the horse. It took it happily and she combed its mane with her fingers.
"You are a lovely horse. I never see you here though. Does General Pierce own you?" She whispered softly.
The horse seemed to want some more but she only made it sniff the delicious carrots in the bucket. The horse perked up and Avry started climbing up to it.
It must really be a smart horse. How could you teach a horse to go to a place by just making it sniff some carrots? It was a bit of weird. But isn't everyone here weird, too?
Avry thought more about what she's doing. What if this was a trap set by the Mages?
Mages are the worst enemies of the vampires.
They are powerful sorcerers that can control any type of elements including water, air, earth, fire, and metal.
They also have a deep hate towards the vampires which has started all the way from the stone age.
She dismissed the idea knowing that their kingdom was heavily protected by powerful barriers.
The horse started to slow down when they entered a huge forest. There were Blue Spirits everywhere. They float in the forest every night. Lighting and guiding strangers that enters their domain. They would touch Avry's hair and giggle. Sometimes they would tickle her and fly away.
Crunchhh
The horse stopped. Wary of his sorroundings. Blue Spirits don't touch the ground therefore someone else caused that noise. She looked around but didnt see anything aside from gigangic trees, flowers in full bloom and Blue Spirits floating everywhere.
"Let's go, boy. Your master must be waiting." Avry rubbed its neck and the horse started walking again.
After a long journey, they entered a part of the forest with veins that looked like curtains as an entrance.
What Avry saw made her gasp. It was so beautiful she was lost for words on how to describe it. The huge silver moon was reflected on the clear water of the lake. Soft green grass covered the land with hundreds of different species of flowers. The air was warmer here than outside. It also smelled differently. Like a mix of flowers in fresh air.
There was no one else here though. It was so quiet that you can only hear crickets. She looked around and got impatient.
Avry got off the horse and went near the lake. Taking off her shoes, she raised her skirt to walk into the lake. It was cold but at the right temperature. She started playing with the water and also saw different kinds of fish. Some were dark, some were blue, and others even glow.
Seconds turned into minutes and minutes turned into hours. General Collin Pierce never arrived. Avry gave up. She was about to step out of the lake when suddenly she heard a laugh nearby. The laugh got louder and closer. It was of a young man. He seemed excited. There was also a giggle of a girl and another boy was shouting at them. Avry stepped back and dove into the water right when they entered the hidden paradise.
"Throw Isaac into the water!" The little girl giggled and ran into the lake.
"No! Mama will punish you two. Bad brother and sister! Brother, I can't swim!" He started to cry and stomped his little feet on the grass.
"Awwww, Isaac, I won't throw you into the water. Come here and sit. Just wait for us." The young man told him sweetly. He nodded his head, wiped his tears, and sat obediently.
"Shadeeee! Come onnnn! The water is perfect!" The little girl, only 9 years old, swam and played. Shade ran to his sister and they had so much fun. Avry was almost losing her breath. She had to go up and breathe. If these people are humans, she can just lie to them. If they were vampires, it would be harder.
3... 2... 1... Avry gasped for air and two pairs of eyes stared at her in disbelief.
The little girl, Cary, was the one who spoke first." M-m-mermaid?" Avry forgot about her fear and started laughing.
"No, little girl, I'm not a mermaid." She giggled more and started to sink. Shade pulled her up and that was all it took for her to know that interacting with these people are dangerous. Skin to skin connection helped vampires identify people. And these people arent humans. They are mages.
