Heiress 101
CHAPTER viThe light rays of the sun felt hot on Avry's skin. Heather must have opened the curtains again. She opened her eyes with a groan but when she tried to sit up... she couldn't. Like something was keeping her from moving. She also realized that she doesn't have to sit up for the fact that she was already sitting on something sturdy and heavy. A wooden chair. Wood is lethal to vampires. One good blow can end their lives.
Avry looked around the room to assess the sorroundings.
There wasnt anything else aside from the dirty windows and floor. There were spiderwebs on the ceiling and specks of dust danced in the air. This isn't a place where you welcome a guest.
Avry's ears perked at the slight sound that her sensitive ears caught. Woods being chopped. Probably a mile away. There's also laughter and voices. A man and a woman. She tried to hear more and listen to their conversation but she couldn't catch anything clear.
Suddenly, there was a loud whistle and another voice entered. It was owned by an old man but still, she couldn't decipher the words they were saying.
The day went by and Avry felt thirst suffocating her. She needed blood now or else she'll get weaker and she can't afford that in the situation she's in right now.

"What if she's already dead?" Heather said, worry lacing her tone.
"It's impossible. They won't kill her without getting something from us yet." Replied Head Clourdwick
"Yes that's true. If the Mages caught her, they are probably torturing her now. " The queen said, obviously bored. Maze glared at her and looked at every present council members in the room. Generals, Clourdwicks, the Royal Council. No one seemed to care.
"Thank you for the very helpful idea, Allina." Finally, King Vlad has spoken. Queen Allina just looked at him and gestured "what" as if what she said was a joke.
Heather bit her lip, afraid to speak. But she managed to let out the words. "W-what if she's the one that they want from us and killed her?" Tears suddenly dropped from her eyes.
The 3rd Clourdwick, Hansel Reid, spoke up and said, "She probably just ran away. She tried to escape just 4 days ago, didn't she? The princess just got smarter after getting whipped".
Heather glared at Hansel. The bastard has always been silent but couldn't shut his mouth when it's about tormenting Avry. "What did the servant say?" she asked.
General Pierce said calmly, "I did not send any letter. She was probably lured by someone from inside the castle." When he said "someone" he met the queen's eyes and they turned into slits.
"What is this stupidity thag you are suggesting, General? I don't think anyone would dare lure the princess into her death." Clourdwick Diana inquired.
Queen Allina inspected her perfectly manicured nails and said, "Does that suspiscion have a face? I'd love to tear the skin off of it."
Pierce just looked at the queen and then to the king where he noticed tha he was in deep tought. He was about to suggest that he will lead a search party much farther from their territory when Maze Hellcross spoke before he did.
"I'll find her. There's no way I won't. General Pierce, send me the Scion Guards when my party is ready at the South Gate."
Pierce set his jaw and rolled his eyes. He couldn't believe that this prince even dared to command him and ask for the Scion Guards. They were the secret assassination squad of the king and they do not operate for lowly missions. They are being kept and prepared for the Ur. Not to save a kidnapped princess which he can do alone. "With all due respect, Your Highness, the Scions don't answer to you... You are not king yet." Or will you ever be? He wanted to add.
Maze just crossed his arms and smirked. He walked towards the doors but it seemed like he was prowling towards the General. He incidentally hit his shoulder and said behind his back, "If the Scions are late, be ready to kiss your pretty head goodbye." The doors closed and Pierce looked to the king for confirmation and he received a nod.
The Head Clourdwick Diana's heavy Russian accent echoed inside the council room as she cursed at the scene they all witnessed. "The Scions are not for saving damsels in distress. If we use them, the Mages will think that we are either too proud or too weak to use that secret arsenal against anyone."
The king stood, ready to leave and rest, but before that, he glanced at everyone in the room and said, "Listen to that demon before he brings hell right inside this kingdom."
