David sat with Emilia at the restaurant table.
She, honestly, felt like she was the beauty in the Beauty and the Beast.
David looked like the chief of a bronze age tribe, while she wore a navy blue satin dress and heels.
The fact that he was the one who made them for her spoke volumes for his talents in craftsmanship, but still made her nervous.
"I honestly don't think you will enjoy this if you can't calm down, Emilia.
If you'd like, we can always try this again, somewhere else."
She took a deep breath, held it and let it out.
"No. It's alright. I'm just a nervous wreck because I don't know how to even have a conversation with you."
"You're already doing that, now. Just keep it up."
"Really? You can just talk about anything? Just like that?"
"Why not? I live in Yukon Canada to stay isolated from people that I don't want to be around.
I know that my appearance can be intimidating, yet you approached me anyway.
Quite frankly, you're the first person to ever approach me so casually.
I found that impressive. I couldn't turn you away."
"I was terrified when I did."
"I know, but you hid it well and completely ridiculed me in front of a crowd of people, just to try and bring your nerves under control.
I liked you immediately."
"So. . . You're not angry?"
"If I were angry do you really think, for a moment, that I'd have made that dress and those shoes for you?"
"I guess not."
"Oh! How are they, anyway?
Are they comfortable?""I love them. But, they're a bit lavish for my taste."
"I see. Well, I brought you these, in case you felt that way. Feel free to go change if you want to."
"No. It's alright. . . Wait. Is that velvet?"
"Yes. I made it too."
She bit her lip.
"Are you sure I can go change?"
"Of course. Then we can eat and go shopping."
She looked shocked.
"You? You're going to take me shopping?"
"I thought that you might like to. So, that's why I offered. I'll buy you a few things and get a better feel for what styles you prefer."
She took his calloused hand in her's.
"You know what? I think I'll try the velvet clothes another time.
Let's enjoy our time now.
Also, have you considered making clothes professionally?"
"Meh. Too much trouble and headache. I hunt for profit."
"So, basically, your a bounty hunter who takes jobs hunting various animals?"
"Right."
"Why?"
"Most want or need the food and, if they're in need, I make it tremendously cheaper to hire me than buying meat from a store.
Some of them also use the skins for clothes and other things.
The rest just want the skins and furs.
