he was thinking about her and her hands and how her nails were an odd purple that was only purple when light hit it and black everywhere else. He was thinking about her, in his room, staring up at the moonlit ceiling. he wondered what she was doing. He got up, thinking little to nothing, moved mostly by the instinct that possessed his body when it came to her. He went into the hallway and stared through the crack in her doorway.

she had music softly playing, some kind of thing with russian words and upbeat synths. she was sitting on her bed, one leg on the quilt, the other on the floor pedaling a tattoo gun. he noticed she was wearing shorts, and running a needle over her skin, a wet paper towel in her stencil stained hand. he felt his mouth water as he stared at the black ink making its way up her thighs. she looked up, grey eyes golden in the lamplight, even through the wire frames she wore and cocked an eyebrow at nothing in particular, before wiping at the fresh spot on her calf.

"are you going to keep lurking out there?" She said, a slight bit of mirth in her voice. He simply stared, and walked in at the invitation, having barely the decency to blush at having been caught.

"what are you up to?" He said, voice cracking.

"the fuck does- sorry, i am tattooing myself." she said, clearly reminding herself to not be so aggressive as he flinched.

"what are you listening to?"

"Molchat dolma"

"whats that?"

"...how many more dumb questions are you planning on asking me?" the buzz of the tattoo gun cut off and she was looking up at him, a frown drawing its annoyance tight on her face. he laughed, and shrugged.

"as many as you'll let me." he pretended to ignore the soft flush that suddenly bloomed on her cheeks and instead sat on the floor beside her, and began toying with a thread that had worked its way free of her bedspread.

" can i have one?" he asked. she glanced at him, thin eyebrows wrinkling into a bewildered expression.

"a tattoo?" she appraised him slowly, then made eye contact. he heard himself gulp.

"let me finish this bit. ill have to change the needle. what would you like?" she once more focused on the curling bit of lace making its way up her leg. he shrugged and stared as she rolled the needle in small circular motions.

"whatever you want to do" he paused "no pin up girls." she scoffed.

"you ruin all my fun." The music played softly, filling the sudden silence as he watched her wipe excess ink away and reach for a second needle.

"does it hurt?" he said, voice soft.

"3." she said, getting up and depositing the used needle, gloves and used paper towels into the bathroom trashcan.

"pardon?" he was having a difficult time understanding anything. he didn't remember if shed ever worn shorts that short around him before. EAT EAT EAT CONSUME  he shivered and rubbed at his eyes with the heel of his hands.

"3. thats how many dumb questions you've asked me since you came in my room."

"wanna make it four?" he grinned up at her as she walked back over to him and her lip twisted.
