Law x OC: The Surgeon and the Assassin

Prologue

Azami's POV

I knocked the Captain's door three times before I heard his voice.

"Come in."

I walked in the dark room and stood in front of him. He was sitting behind his desk, and the little light coming from a window only allowed me to see a bit of his red spiky hair, his goggles and his shimmering brown eyes.

"You summoned me?" I asked.

"Well, yeah..." he said and stood up. He approached me slowly with a grin on his face and whispered in my ear: "I have a quest for you, Cupcake."

"Stop calling me that" I said irritated. "It's not time for games, Kid. We entered the Grand Line only a few months ago."

Kid huffed. "Why do you have to be so stiff? Relax a bit."

I ignored him. " Tell me, what's this quest you're talking about?"

Disappointed, Kid led me to his desk, where he showed me the wanted poster of a man in his twenties. He had black thin eyes with dark circles under them and wore a white hat with black marks. He was smiling creepily and had his right arm risen up, which allowed me to see the word D-E-A-T-H tattooed on it, each letter on one of his fingers.

"The Surgeon of Death, Trafalgar Law" I read under the picture. His bounty was already 100.000 beli, almost as high as Kid's. "What do I have to do with this creep?"

"This creep" he said ironically, "is our main opponent in this game for winning One Piece. Thus, we have to get rid of him."

"Oh, I get it. You want me to kill him."

"No, no, we shouldn't kill him yet... All you're gonna do is some spying for me, Cupcake. I want you to enter the Heart Pirates' crew, win their trust and reveal all their secrets to me."

"Allow me to remind you, my job is assassination, not spying."

"I know, I know... but for now, just do as I say. Let's not be hasty. Besides, he's a Devil Fruit user and you're not."

"What's that supposed to mean?" I shouted angrily. "You know pretty wel how strong I am, ever since we were kids! Besides, depending on my own strength and not in some devil's powers doesn't mean I'm weak!"

"Alright, I know, just calm down, okay? You're so short-tempered, you know that?"

Look who's talking, I wanted to say, but I decided to remain silent. "Fine, I'll do as you say. Where am I supposed to meet him?"

Hello, everyone! Thank you for deciding to read my first fanfic! I know the prologue was kinda short, but the next chapter will be a lot bigger! Also, since it's my first fanfic regarding the world of One Piece, I'd like you to correct me wherever you think I have made a mistake and I'll fix it right away :) See you soon with the next chapter!

P.S. My original idea was that Azami would be Kid's girlfriend at first, but then I realised I was creating a love triangle and I decided to just make them childhood friends (you'll find out more about their past in one of the next chapters ^^) I think this idea is better, what do you think? xD
