Breaking up with Gwen Stacy was harder than Peter thought it would be.

In reality, she ended up breaking up with him. Nonetheless, it broke his heart breaking her heart, but it had to be done for her safety. He doesn't know what he would do with himself if she suffered the same fate as Zoee's. He really then would be haunted by her father's ghost.

His guilt was tripled after ending things with his former girlfriend and the only way to distract himself from the gut-wrenching pain is to throw himself deeper into his Spider-Man work. He did everything; from saving cats in trees to extinguishing building fires to protecting kids from school bullies. He worked to protect New York even when sick from the common cold or physically fatigued.

Although it exhausted Peter Parker, it was the only way to keep him from wallowing in grief and culpability.

Along with vigilante duties, he doubled down and focused on finding Zoee Atkins once and for all; especially after the findings at the city's grave.

After much convincing and maybe some bribing, Peter was persuaded by Laura and MJ to at least check out the grave and ask around. He swore to leave the grave digging as their last resort and the women reluctantly agreed.

It was evening, the sun was going down making the sky swirl with beautiful hues of pastel oranges and yellows. Peter Parker, Laura Atkins, and Mary Jane Watson made their way to the city grave in Queens. Bundled up in warm clothes, they entered the graveyard ready to tackle head-on any obstacle that came in their way.

Entering the grave, flashes of Zoee's funeral made the eerie feeling of deja-vu creep up Peter and Laura's spine. Sensing this, the Parker boy turned to face Zoee's mom.

"Hey," He called out to her softly. Laura looked at him with warm tears of anguish in her eyes along with a look of mourning. "We don't have to do this."

Laura shook her head, her voice cracking when she spoke. "I have to. For Zoee. No matter what we find."

Peter nodded firmly while MJ rubs Laura's back. Together, the three of them kept trekking through, hoping to find help while they made their way to Zoee's gravestone.

When the trio finally arrived to where Zoee's coffin was buried, they were shellshocked at what they saw; someone had already dug up her grave and the culprit was standing right next to it. A man dressed in a dark raincoat with the hood up held a large dirt-covered shovel, making Peter's spider-sense go haywire.

"Who are you?" Peter demanded loudly, his hands curling into fists to avoid escalating the situation. He didn't want to put Laura and MJ in danger and have to expose his spider powers.
