" This ?" Draco massaged the bridge of his nose for the second time that day. "This is your big plan to get even with Pansy?"
"Uh huh." Esme nodded eagerly.
"You're insane."
"They were the best pranksters of their year at Hogwarts Draco!"
"You think we're the best pranksters of our year at Hogwarts?" George wiggled his eyebrows teasingly at Esme while Draco continued to stand with his arms crossed defensively. It was technically fair that Draco had some qualms about this, considering the fact that their history was a bit tainted.
"But it looks like Malferret disagrees." Fred smirked, casually shoving his hands in his pocket and Draco fought back another scowl, grinding his molars. Oh, the Weasels were enjoying this alright. If this didn't mean so much to Esme, he wouldn't have tolerated this.
"Excuse us, one moment." Esme said, reaching for Draco's hand to pull him away. Her single touch, put him at ease. He had no choice but to follow.
When she dragged him far enough, Draco took a moment to look at her and understand what in Merlin's name was going inside of her head.
What Pansy did with the potion was uncalled for, but surely there must have been something else that had triggered such a reaction from her.
"Please Please Pleeeeaseee agree with Fred and George for this one time." Esme pleaded, even going so far as to joining her palms together. "I beg of you Draco."
"Not a chance."
"Please." She continued, looking him straight in the eye and that is when he knew he was knee deep in trouble.
Those eyes.
He would have agreed to anything if she looked at him like that— correct, incorrect or straight up lies, didn't matter.
The sun rises in the west? Sure. Trees shed leaves in the spring? Absolutely. St. Potter wasn't so bad to begin with? Of course.
Draco placed a gentle hand on her cheek. The pad of his thumb caressed her cheekbone and she closed her eyes and melted into his touch before he could get a better view of the whirlpools in her eyes. That was probably a good thing because he'd probably be pulled in deeper had he continued.
"This is really important to you, hm?" He asked observantly and she nodded.
"Are you going to tell me why?" He asked again, and she stubbornly shook her head to denote a no.
"If I agree to whatever the Weasels say, will you at least tell me why you have been avoiding me like the Plague?"
Her eyes danced as she let his questions register. Then, she nodded slowly and he let go of her face so he could walk back towards Fred and George who looked way too invested for their own good..
"So, where were we?" George asked, looking at Fred with a mischievous grin.
"We were at the part where Malfoy over here was disagreeing." Fred gestured towards Draco. Draco took it upon himself to keep his mouth shut and count to a hundred.
"Draco Agrees." Esme said, nudging him lightly with her elbow.
"Ow—right. Whatever she said." Draco muttered reluctantly wondering why he was going through this humiliation for her.
"Sorry. We didn't quite hear you." The twins said.
This girl was a hurricane threatening to turn his life upside down. The walls he'd built around himself had fallen into debris in a path. Suddenly he standing completely unguarded, desperate for her to wreck him in her wake.
