The cabin looked like it had popped out of one of those Christmas movies.
Warm, bright, colorful and cheerful.
It would have been a dream to live in if it wasn't for the events of the past year. The reminder is just in the kitchen making something for dinner.
The year had started out nice enough with working becoming easier or projects getting done. It was only when they appeared did things start to go downhill. You hadn't noticed them at first, just another face on the crowd but then they made themselves known.
They had actually done a good job of getting close to you. Breaching any walls that were in the way. It felt like you had known them your whole life.
And because of that you were now stuck in a cabin far away from everything you once knew. You had tried many times to get back yet nothing worked. Given what happens after every attempt makes it less and less worth it.
You start to wonder what you were even fingering for. A job, friend and family that have probably stopped looking at this point?
When you are here there is someone who says they love you, who takes care of everything for you......
Maybe it wasn't so bad....
Just maybe....
The call that dinner was ready was what got you out of your head. Dragging yourself to the table you looked at the feast.
"After this I figured, we can open presents before watching a few movies."
They give such a sweet and hopeful smile.
It gave you mixed feelings.
