Tiegan's POV-
"Aspen!" Ainsley and I called in hushed tones trying not to attract the bodyguard's attention as Patricia stepped out of the limo flanked by her own bodyguards.
"Too late." Ainsley sighed, facepalming in annoyance.
As the two bodyguards we were assigned stepped forward to greet her Ainsley and I winced when the taller of the two lost his balance and nearly face planted on the pavement Aspen just giggled slyly until she also noticed Patricia who was looking at her with the same glaring expression, she'd looked at Ainsley with earlier.
"Sorry." Aspen muttered sheepishly her face burned scarlet as she quickly scampered back over to us with her head down using her sister as a shield to hide out of pure embarrassment.
"Serves you right." Ainsley whispered consequently.
"Shhh!" I snapped glancing at the two of them for a split second before somewhat nervously returning my gaze back to Patricia; as she stepped closer, I subconsciously straightened up in order to look more proper and presentable, Ainsley copied my actions, but Aspen just shrank back behind her sister even more and tried to physically make herself as small as possible. --which obviously didn't work-
Patricia waved Ainsley and I aside nonchalantly and nodded for our bodyguards to escort us to the limo leaving Aspen on her own looking absolutely timorous... After only 15 minutes of watching Ainsley watch Patricia talking to Aspen; the window Ainsley was looking out of had begun to fog up around her from how heavily and erratically she was breathing.
"Jesus Ainse, are you gonna be ok or do you need an inhaler?" I asked only half joking, seeing as little blueish grey sparks of magic had begun erupting around her every few seconds like tiny unhappy fireworks.
"What?" She questioned in a dazed tone taking her eyes off her sister and finally noticing what was happening around her "Oh; sorry, it's a twin thing." She stated dismissively waving away the sparks of magic as though they were nothing and wiping at the fogged-up window but as she peered out of it again Patricia and Aspen had finished they're conversation and were now walking back to the limousine.
Ainsley quickly tried to act as though she hadn't been eavesdropping as one of Patricia's bodyguards opened the door; I slid over so Aspen could sit between us, but Ainsley copied my actions once again allowing Aspen to have the window seat instead. Neither Patricia or Aspen said anything to each other or us nearly the entire way back to --what I could only assume was Colby's childhood home--
Even from this distance I could see how exquisite it was with its many arching windows, --some of which were stained glass-- and marble-esque castle like exterior all nestled right near the bank of a lake that was so calm it perfectly reflected the houses image as though it were an inky mirror. it was like something out of a fairy tale, which both amazed and yet slightly unnerved me.
"Breathtaking, isn't it?" Patricia asked, beaming proudly at her home as the limo pulled up the drive stopping right at the front steps where a very discontented looking Robert was waiting impatiently for us; his eldest son Gage standing off to the side just behind him, stepped forward once the limo had come to a complete stop and opened the door then held his hand out to his mother as she stepped out.
The three of us followed closely behind her with the four bodyguards tailing behind us "What took so long?" Robert asked in an obvious slightly agitated tone as we all made our way up the steps and into the house; I glanced around the immaculate foyer while trying to keep focused on the conversation at hand when a glint of light off the chandelier forced my gaze up the stairway to the landing where Koa was leaned against the banister picking at the dirt under his nails with a butterfly knife.
