Chapter 4: chaos

Sitara's POV

"What'do we do? Is Tiegan gonna be ok? Should we tell Taylor and Josh?" Ainsley panicked starting to pace around

"Ainse chill! First we;" Colby started pointing from him to Sam "Need to get Snow out of Hellingly using the tunnels and figure out how to get Tiegan conscious again while you, find a way into the surveillance room and delete the footage of the last 11 minutes." He explained while Sam peeked out into the corridor to check if it was empty or not

"Oh yeah great idea Cole that definitely won't get my ass put in Isolation for a month no thanks I'll pass." She snapped only half sarcastically. I whimpered and scampered behind Sam with my tail between my legs, my ears bent low as I crouched to the ground watching this unfold

"Don't!.. Call me that!!" Colby shouted taking a step towards Ainsley his eyes dangerously flashing black for a split second just long enough for Ainsley to take a few quick steps backwards I barked to get his attention and jumped between them "Sitara; move. Now!" Colby ordered but I didn't budge; with Ainsley behind me I growled warningly at Colby to back off baring my teeth threateningly which was a HUGE mistake... Colby's ocean blue eyes almost instantly clouded over in a jet black blur then Zeref's unmistakable electric blue eyes came into view the whites of his eyes still clouded over; meaning he wasn't just pissed he was seething with anger to the point of almost phasing completely and at this moment I wouldn't blame him for doing exactly that...... I had just done the one thing that, by law gave Zeref the right to rip my throat out.. I had disobeyed the Alpha!

For the second time in the last 16 minutes I fell into submission this time rolling onto my back exposing my belly and waiting apprehensively for him to fully phase, lunge at me, and sink his k-9's into my jugular but after a few agonizing minutes, to my surprise his eyes faded back to Colby's bright calming ocean blue orbs I didn't dare move 'til he gave a response

"Colby we have to go NOW we don't have time for this; Punish her later!" Sam snapped in a slightly hushed tone closing the door partially Ainsley gave me a sympathetic look before turning to Colby who had spun around at Sam's words I wriggled slightly trying to itch my nose but stopped when Colby looked back at me before looking over at Ainsley again a somewhat irritated stare still plastered on his face then he sighed ran a hand through his hair out of habit and said "Take Jake with you he'll be able to keep tabs on us and help you delete the footage." at almost that exact moment Jake burst through the door nearly knocking Sam and Ainsley to the floor completely oblivious to this he blurted "I've been looking everywhere for you guys I heard Shea rambling on abo-..." he stopped abruptly when his eyes fell on me his jaw dropping in shock I twisted around sitting upright my tail wagging slightly but immediately slouched low drooping my ears as I caught Colby's gaze

"Oh, this is bad!" Jake exclaimed in alarm

"How did you know we were in here?" Ainsley but in glancing at Jake for a response but Sam cut her off before Jake could answer

"Enough! We'll explain later Jake, you and Ainsley sneak your way into the surveillance room and delete the footage of the last 20 minutes; me and Colby'll sneak Snow out through the tunnels and figure out how to get Tiegan conscious before the guards even notice any of us are gone..... I hope." he proclaimed muttering the last part under his breath and without another word Jake ducked out of the girls bathroom with Ainsley right behind him when Sam had given them a thumbs up signaling that it was all clear while Colby looked at something on some map he'd pulled out of the inside lining of his pocket then a few seconds after they had left Sam peeked his head through the door one more time checked that it was still clear and waved for us to follow.

I slinked my way through the crack in the door and stopped behind Sam glancing over my shoulder to see Ainsley and Jake turn a corner at the other end of the corridor "Alright its clear ahead let's go." Colby whispered peering at the map as he traced his finger along the main pathway before running along the wall down to the end of the corridor with me and Sam trailing behind him

After what felt like a lifetime of running through a maze of corridors Colby stopped suddenly and stepped backwards right on my paw I yelped in pain and jumped back knocking into Sam, he stumbled slightly but thankfully regained his balance

"What was that?" A patrol guard exclaimed to himself from somewhere down the other end of one of the corridors taking a few steps forward

"Everything ok on your end Eric?" another one of the guards asked through the static of what was unmistakably a walkie-talkie

"Uh; yea just thought I heard something." he answered hitting the little button to respond

"Well go check it out! We don't need another repeat of last month's attempted break out!" the guard vociferated causing Eric's walkie-talkie to screech

it echoed off the walls painfully magnified by the empty concrete corridors I whimpered in pain and pawed at my ears, but the sound continued to ring through my mind, I desperately rubbed my head on the ground still pawing at my ears trying to make that dreadful noise go away while Colby and Sam hopelessly tried coaxing me to keep quiet all of us completely unaware of the rapidly approaching footsteps coming up behind us.

"Hey! You two, what're you doing in here? Why aren't you out in the courtyard with the others?" It was Adrian one of Hellingly's most hated patrol guards who was normally in charge of patrolling the grounds at night and also just so happened to be the guard of the isolation ward.

"Shit run!" Sam yelled before bolting ahead of us, Colby sprinted after him, but I didn't budge I'd been waiting for this moment for years

"Hey get ba-- Whoa! How did a mutt get in here?!" he exclaimed pointing his tranquilizer gun at me now instead; I snarled baring my teeth as I crouched low to the ground bracing myself to run at him, flashes of memories clouding my vision. But the one that stuck in my mind the most was a memory of this little girl Raell who showed up a few weeks ago all the horrible things they put her through the tests hearing her screams it all swarmed my vision until the only thing I could see was her face I felt my body move forward, felt the graze of the tranquilizer dart as it brushed passed my fur narrowly missing me by inches then just as I was about to pounce I noticed something or rather someone else rush passed me; Adrian went flying backwards and hit the ground going unconscious.

I paused stunned the image of Raell's face faded from view being replaced by Sam's before my eyes finally focused and I remembered what was happening just as Jake and Ainsley came running down the other end of the corridor

"Sam! We did it... We deleted the footage; and.... oh my god is he dead?" Ainsley exclaimed crouching slightly and resting her hands on her knees as she tried to catch her breathe before immediately taking a step back

"No; just knocked out, come on we haven't got much time!" He explained waving for us to follow as he began sprinting in the direction Colby ran then just at that exact moment Colby's voice popped into my head via Mind-Link: 'Go the other way there's a passage in the storage closet up ahead run!'
