Your point of view:

I open my eyes to find myself at the beginning of another miserable day at Nevermore academy. The world looks black and white as I drag myself downstairs to get some breakfast. The moody grey sky only adds to the gloomy aura that radiates through the halls.

And then she runs in. The most colourful girl in school. I have to say sometimes I feel she's quite obnoxious, but I can't help but admire her soft features, the vibrant ends of her short blonde hair and a certain optimistic energy she brings into the room.

It brings a smile to my face, as much as I hate to admit it.

Soon enough she's sliding a tray (piled up with raw meats) onto the table we share every morning. I focus on my food, not knowing how to start a conversation. That's her job.

"Morning! Guess. What."

"What?" I question, knowing it'll be something to do with her drama blog.

"I had 20 new readers last night!" She exclaims, beaming.

I chuckle and congratulate her. We finish our food and quickly make our way to the greenhouse. The lighting in here is just as gloomy as everywhere else but at least it's warm.

Enid plops down next to me and pulls out her elaborate collection of coloured pens for her note-making, I pull out my single ballpoint pen and start to doodle down the margins of my page.

I glance at her work around halfway through the class, only to be blinded by the neon rainbow splattered across her work.

"It looks like a unicorn vomited on your notebook." I chuckle, playfully covering my eyes.

She punches my arm gently and goes back to her excessive highlighting.

I guess opposites attract.
