It was summertime in OBX. It was extremely hot and humid which was something that you were used to. You were hanging out at your best friend Sarah Cameron's house. You both decided to go out on the boardwalk and look out at the water. You were contemplating going in but you also didn't have a bathing suit with you. You're a Pogues at heart so getting a bathing suit would take a long time especially since it's on the other side of the island.

"The water looks super nice don't you think?" You look over at Sarah and gave her a soft smile shared with a laugh.

"Yeah it does but we also have a pool that's not gross and dirty. Especially since it gets cleaned every month".

Sarah looked at you with a grin on her face from the comment you made. She's just as outgoing as you are but sometimes you get the best of her. You've known her for a couple of years now especially since you and all the Pogues hang out quite often. You were friends with Kiara, Pope, JJ and John B before you met Sarah, but you guys got along pretty well since her and John B were together.

Before Kiara was your main girl but now that she's dating Pope her time can be occupied more than usual if you know what I mean. And don't even get me started on her parents whole situation which really sucks. Boarding school gross.

"Y/n you good?" Sarah nudged her shoulder after you let your mind wander. You shook your head and gave her a soft smile getting back to the moment. You guys were just talking on the boardwalk when you heard footsteps following behind you. You turned your head slightly because your back was facing the noise originally. The sun was too bright and you couldn't make out exactly what it was but it looked to be like a person. As the tall figure got close are you realized it was no other than Sarah's brother Rafe Cameron. He was an interesting one for sure. Him and Sarah did not share a lot of common traits besides the point that they had the same parents.

"Hey Sarah dads calling you inside. Something about school and your attendance I guess." He blurted signaling her to go inside to talk to her Ward.

"Oh God not this shit again. I don't know why this stuff matters anymore it's just high school. Y/n i'll be right back it shouldn't take too long." She began to get up and you made sure to make a comment that you knew would make her laugh.

"Hey when you get back we can compare how many absences we have now and if we're even going to graduate high school." You laugh putting your hands over your mouth hoping that she wouldn't come back and push you in the water. You watched her walk off and you were left alone with her brother. You weren't necessarily fond of him but you didn't hate him at the same time. More so because you didn't know too much about him but you would see him occasionally when you were over or out at the beach with the Pogues.

You sat there silently checking over your shoulder to see if Rafe still there. You tried to look hoping that he wouldn't notice you were looking over your shoulder but he did. He gave you a small awkward smile but you shared the same manner too. You noticed he was holding a beer in his hand and was sipping on it while you both were there "enjoying" each other's awkward company.

You decided to break the silence since Sarah was taking longer than expected.

"So whatcha drinking?" You up look at him biting the bottom of your lip because you realized how stupid that sounded coming out of your mouth but you don't really know what else to say besides that. He looks down at you since he was standing still and laughs a little into his response.

"It's a beer why." Rafe responds with a snarky tone which was unappreciated. I guess this is exactly why you don't talk to him. Noted. You roll your eyes at his response and just looked out into the distance.
