CHAPTER 12

School was going to start soon and they were planning to go to Diagon Alley as soon as the boys and the girls got their letter with OWLs marks. They got them soon and Harry was happy and proud to see that he got an E in DADA.

"Well done, Harry." Remus said and Sirius was happy and proud too.

They got in Diagon Alley with Floo Powder. Tonks, Mad-Eye, Sirius, Mrs. Longbottom and Kingsley were with them. Everyone was excited to see Fred and George's shop.

Suddenly, Harry saw Draco Malfoy. He was getting in a strange shop in Nocturn Alley. He became suspicious and asked the DA to follow him. Draco seemed angry, and they knew he hid something.

"We're going to tell Dumbledore next meeting. Guys, when we'll be at Hogwarts, I want us to understand what they're doing."

"Sure. We're the DA, remember?"

"We'll have to get some more people. I mean, we're kind of twenty-five, now that the twins aren't at Hogwarts anymore..."

"They aren't the only two... Angelina, and others..."

"Oh yes, right then. We're... twenty?"

"Kind of."

"We'll have to get more followers."

"I'm looking forward to being at Hogwarts."

"Me too, Neville."

When they came back, they saw Dumbledore and Remus sitting at the table. They looked serious.

"I've just known" Dumbledore said "That Fenrir Greyback and his werewolves have join Voldemort. We need a spy between them and Remus offered himself for the mission."

"NO!" Tonks screamed. "No, you can't..."

"I think I'm old enough to decide for my own life, don't you think?" Remus replied sarcastically. "I'm going there to do something useful for the Order ad I'm not changing my mind. It's none of your business."

"None of my business? You call it none of my business? It's mine because... because I..."

She burst into tears. Molly sent an angry look at Remus.

"Go to bed Tonks, dear."

The metamorphomagus left the room, leaving everyone in silence.

"I'll leave tomorrow." Remus said.

"I think we have to say him goodbye." Dumbledore said. Remus hugged everyone. Then most of the people left the room too, leaving Harry, Sirius and Remus alone. Sirius didn't want to let go his best friend. Harry could swear he saw a tear escape from his Godfather's eyes. Harry hugged Remus tight too.

"Be careful."

"I will."

"Remus... go upstairs and say goodbye to Dora." Sirius said.

"She doesn't want to see me."

"She wants. Come on, Remus. She's broken and... and this could be the last... the last time we see you..."

"I'm not dead yet, I think."

"Remus, you know what I mean... this is a dangerous mission."

Remus nodded and left the room. Harry hugged Sirius. He needed some comfort, he needed someone who could understand him.

"Sirius, I'm worried."

"I am too... I am too, Harry. But I understand him. He wants to be useful. It's how I felt last year, do you remember it?"

Harry nodded.

"Go to bed."

Harry left the room. After a moment, Sirius followed him.

The next morning

 

It was dawn, but Sirius was in the kitchen, making coffee. He knew Remus would have appreciated that, and he was right. Remus got into the room looking terrible.

"Hi, Remus."

Remus nodded and sat at the table. He started to drink his cup.

"You're frightened, Remus."

"I won't deny it. But I'll go, because I'm not a coward."

"No, you defiantly aren't." Sirius hugged him. "You're a man, Remus, and men have fears. When you'll be with werewolves, remember it. Remember to be a man, because you can fight the monster, because you love. Men love. You aren't a monster, Remus. You are a man."

Remus lost himself in Sirius hug. His words and his voice made him feel better. He didn't answer, just hugged his friend more tightly. Something melted into him, and he knew he could do that.

Sirius released him.

"Goodbye, man." He said softly.

"Goodbye, Sirius. Thanks. Thank you."

"You're welcome."

"We'll see each other again."

"Yes, we will. Goodbye. We love you."

And then Remus turned and walked away and got out of the house.
