Drip
You stir. That type of drunken stirring from deep sleep that pins you down. If nothing was amiss you might not even remember it in the morning. However, something was amiss.
Drip
Your consciousness was a few steps ahead of your body. You have a faint urge to roll over but you can't. The next thing that registers is how uncomfortable you felt, you were laying down on a hard surface.Drip
Suddenly a drop of water hits you in the face. You open your eyes.
It's dark but you make out a pair of feet standing in front you.
Horror shoots through you. You try to scream. It's just mumbles. They leap up and do not come back down. There's rustling behind you. It gets farther away. You hear your pulse speed up in your ears.
Fully exerting yourself, a trying growl rips itself from you as you fling yourself up, shifting into a roar.
Confusion still has its hold on you as you crawl backwards and continue to let out holler after holler, until your back hits something. Your voice dies down into hard breaths and your eyes come into focus.
You feel behind yourself. Bark?!
An abrupt deluge soaking you though confirms that you are, in fact, outside.
Your eyes shoot towards the sky, the full moon shines through the gaps in the rushing clouds.
Fully awake, you swivel your head frantically and take in the rest of the trees and bramble. Your stomach and heart felt like they had switched places.
You were paralyzed for a couple of minutes, listening for rustling that sounded different from the wind.
You realize you wouldn't have been able to hear anything anyways. The rain had become deafening.
All of the sudden your head felt like it was splitting. You sobered, as it seems to have brought you out of petrification. You could think more clearly, if only a bit. The clarity sharpened the icy stab of dread in your gut.
"Is anyone there?" You yell, willing yourself to stand and turn the direction the figure went in.
No one answers. Whoever it was seems to have ran off. You consider if It may have just been an animal taking into account it sounded as if it absconded by way of tree. Although you swore you saw a pair of human feet.
You sway on your feet as a wave of vertigo crashes over you. You give a strained whine and shrink into yourself. Mud between your toes. Your socks and shoes were missing. You run your hands over yourself, fearfully feeling the buttons of your pants and if your shirt was tucked in.
You're relieved to find your clothes are all in place, and cross off the worst case scenario.

You felt your pockets a̶n̶d̶ ̶f̶i̶n̶d̶ ̶p̶a̶r̶t̶ ̶o̶f̶ ̶a̶n̶ ̶a̶m̶m̶o̶n̶i̶t̶e̶. No phone, no keys, no wallet. So you were mugged it seems. Great.
You sigh and slide your back down the tree to sit once more.
Maybe w̶h̶i̶l̶e̶ y̶o̶u̶ w̶e̶r̶e̶ a̶t̶ t̶h̶e̶ c̶r̶e̶e̶k̶ someone knocked you out? It would explain the headache. It wouldn't explain why you were a̶ p̶a̶r̶t̶ o̶f̶ the woods y̶o̶u̶ d̶i̶d̶n̶'t̶ r̶e̶c̶o̶g̶n̶i̶z̶e̶ though. Rubbing your temples, you steel yourself for whatever sort of situation you're about to deal with.
