THE DAY I (almost) DIED

Owwwwwwww!!!!!!!

Gracey's P.O.V.

I woke up with my head pounding like Shelby's drums.

Doctor-She's coming around. Give her some more anesthetic, stat.

Something sharp poked my arm and my vision turned black.

Abby- Finally your awake.

Me- how long was I out? Where am I? Why is there a bird in the window? What happened? Where is the rest of the family? Where are mom and dad? W-

Abby-we're not playing twenty questions Gracey! And no I don't know why there's a bird in the window.

Me- well at least answer some of my questions!

Abby- we're in the hospital, mom and dad are dead and dad drove off the road accidentally. Everyone else in in the regular hospital rooms. We're in the ICU.

I stared at her. Mom and Dad are dead? We drove off a cliff? We're in the ICU? This is turning out to be the worst vacation ever!

Abby- you cracked your skull and broke your right wrist. I was almost paralyzed but the piece of glass didn't break my spinal cord so I only broke my back I'm gonna have to be in a wheel chair though.

Me- for how long?

Abby- don't know. The only thing the doctor said about it was that it was a pretty bad break and that I'm very lucky not to be paralyzed.

Me-oh.

Then Shelby and Bailey burst into the room. Bailey was on crutches with a giant cast on her leg and Shelby was in a sling with a broken right arm, like me.

Bailey- So? What did the doc say?

Abby- I'm not paralyzed, Gracey cracked her skull and broke her right wrist.

Me- what happened to you guys? I was out for most of the whole cliffhanging thing.

Shelby- I broke my arm and bailey broke her ankle. Abby was on the side with a window and a giant chunk of glass got lodged in her back.

Abby- I'm just glad that all of us made it out alive. When the helicopter grabbed our car you almost fell out.

Me- I guess we ARE pretty lucky. Considering mom and dad....

We all fell silent. I guess I hit a nerve with the whole death thing. Shelby's phone buzzed in her pocket.

Shelby- (looks at phone) we're staying with a new family. The Lynchs.

Me- I am so gonna scream now.
