I open my eyes groggily to see the inside roof of a dark gloomy van,  all the air left my body as I jolted up and was reminded of Dakota.

I see a small figure in the corner of the van shaking with fear, I crawled over to her, ignoring the waves of dizziness and nausea. As i moved closer to her i saw her rosy red cheeks with tear stains on her cheeks, her whole persona was heart wrenching and i didn't know what to do.

I knew this was all my fault, if I hadn't just taken Dakota to her friends a little bit later or a little bit earlier we wouldn't have been in this situation.

"Koko? baby are you hurt?" I whispered only now realising how scratchy and dry my voice was. I began checking her body for any type of injury that could have occurred during this ordeal, I was only relieved when she didn't seem to have been hurt.

"We have to be quiet or the mean man will come back" Dakota mumbled so quietly I barely heard. She had this dazed look on her face, my heart ached when i realised she was trying to dissociate.

"What did he say to you? Did he tell you what he wanted?" I asked as I tried to fight the knot in the back of my throat so that I wouldn't cry. The last thing Dakota needed was to see me cry in a situation like this.

"He said that they had been looking for you, for a long...long.. time, Connie I'm scared" Dakota whimpered in my arms, I tightened my grasp around her, just trying to give her as much comfort as I physically could.

I paused and licked my lips trying to understand what was happening, but only moments later the van came to a sudden stop almost making us slide to the other side of the van where the doors were.

The back door of the van opened making us cover our eyes with our arms as the light blinded us. a bald white man wearing a tartan winter coat became visible. He looked like some sort of hunter.. but not the friendly kind.

I subconsciously moved back with fear dragging Dakota with me, trying to shield her from this stranger and his unknown intentions.

"Good your awake, eat this or don't I'm not bothered" he spoke his eyes glistening with annoyance. He threw two sandwiches at us and two bottles of water. We watched as he slammed the door shut making us jump at the sound.

"I want mummy" Dakota began to cry. My heart sunk as I tried to reassure my little cousin. "I know you do, and we will get out of this" I said grabbing her hands to reassure her.

"Can we eat im hungry" she mumbled tiredly into my arms. It was only now that I realised it must have been the middle of the night. Which meant we had been missing for hours and we could be anywhere in the country by now. My chest tightened with fear as i began thinking about this logically. I knew the first 24 hours of abductions were vital and survival rates rapidly decrease each hour.
I grew up watching criminal shows. It was mine and Dad's favourite thing to do together, we loved them more than any other tv programmes out there. My dad always told me when i grew up i'd be some sort of detective. Mini detective Wilson he would call me, the nostalgic name brought pain at this very moment. I felt as though one bad thing after another was happening to me, but this time i wasn't completely alone, I had Dakota with me, and as her older cousin it is my job to protect her.

"I don't think we should.. we don't know what's in it" I whispered back after a long pause and began stroking her hair back from out of her face.

I watched as she pouted a little bit but accepted my answer which was a big relief, I didn't think I could handle Dakota arguing with me right now.

my eyes widened At that moment as I noticed an Apple watch for kids on Dakota's wrist. I grabbed Dakota's hand a bit too roughly which she made known by a whine that escaped her mouth in protest.
