The Host

Chapter 3

I go back to my bed, there's food on the desk beside my bed. Bread, cheese and a cup of water. I eat and drink everything in less than a minute. Jeb walks into the hospital and sees me, he smiles and his eyes widen.
"Hey Jeb," I say.
"Wanda? You're awake?" he asks.

"Yes, can't you see?" I say.
He walks toward me.
"Ian yelled at Logan for knocking you out and he beat him up when you wouldn't wake up. Melanie was the most worried though," Jeb says.
"Can I see them?"
"Change first."

I look down and I'm only in a hospital gown and underwear. My face turns bright red with embarrassment and he laughs. I quickly run out to my room and put on new clothes.

Melanie's POV

When Jared, Jamie, Logan, Ian, Doc and our leader, Mike, leave Doc's office, we see Jeb laughing hard. I haven't seen that in a very long time.
"What's so funny?" Mike asks.
"One, Wanda is awake, and two, when she noticed she was only in underwear and a hospital gown, her face turned bright red with embarrassment," Jeb says.

Wanda is awake? That's great! Her bed is empty and there's no more food or water in her dish. But what Jeb is laughing about is funny, I wish that I would of saw that. I look at Ian, who looks thrilled, but then remembers what he did to Logan. Logan has a right black eye and a big cut on his left arm.

Wanda's POV

I put on a gray t-shirt under a black sweater and put on gray leggings. I grab the hospital gown and head to the hospital to return the gown. When I get there I see everyone that I care about talking to another person I care about, Jeb.

Jeb is the only one facing me.
"Is that better?" he asks me.
"Much," I say.
They all turn around and look at me with wide eyes and dropped jaws. Logan looks very badly beat up, Ian must be really strong. Logan did knock me unconcious with a rock though.

Ian rushes to me and sweeps me off of my feet. I scream with half joy, half fear. I love this boy with all of my heart and I know that he feels the same way about me. He, Melanie, Jared and Jamie saved me two weeks ago. I was going to die, but they gave me another life.

"I'm never letting you go again," Ian says.
