Oikawa was bored, if bored was even a strong enough word. All of his friends were at work, and Iwaizumi had left him on read, so he wasn't going to try again.
At work they seemed to have something going on, but as soon as he had met Iwaizumi outside of the cafe, he was downright rude.
Oikawa felt betrayed and sad. He picked up his crutches and walked to the kitchen to find some of his comfort food, milk bread. Why didn't Iwaizumi want to be around him? So many people would love to be in Iwaizumi’s shoes, except for Iwaizumi himself it seemed.
For the morning Oikawa ate milk bread and watched alien documentaries until his phone dinged. He grabbed it and checked it.. and it was from Iwaizumi just as he hoped.
12:25- Your sleep schedule sucks.
12:27- I suppose we could hang out if you'd like.
A grin spread across Oikawa's face and he texted back quickly.
12:28- Okay! When and where? :D
12:30- Do you like ice cream?
12:30- OF COURSE
12:35- Then let's get ice cream.
12:35- Okayy!! Why do you use such good punctuation when you're texting Iwa chan???
12:38- It's a habit.
12:40- Oh! Hey where do you work Iwa chan?
12:50- Iwa chan?
12:58- Sorry, my work break is over. Talk later?
12:58- Yeah!!
He wants to talk later.
Oikawa finally opened the blinds and the sun streamed in, the snow looked blinding in its light.
In a good mood Oikawa went and sat on his porch. The air was crisp and it seemed to bite at his ears and nose, turning them pink, but it was cool and refreshing and Oikawa felt happy.
"Iwa chan!" Oikawa called as he ran towards Iwaizumi, as fast as he could with crutches at least.
Iwaizumi waved before instinctively catching Oikawa in his arms as he stepped too fast for his crutches.
"I told you to take care of yourself, didn't I crappykawa?" Hissed Iwaizumi as he stood him back up. Oikawa simply beamed and seemed to bounce with excitement.
Only moments later they found themselves sitting at a picnic bench, Oikawa happily eating his promised ice cream while Iwaizumi slurped a red slushy and scrolled through his phone.
Oikawa stared at Iwaizumi, trying to think of a conversation starter. If worse came to worse, maybe Iwaizumi would feel so awkward by the staring that he would start a conversation. However as the minutes went on, Iwaizumi gave no sign whatsoever that Oikawa’s behavior bothered him.
"So where do you wanna go after this?" Oikawa finally asked energetically. Iwaizumi put his phone in his pocket and gave Oikawa his attention.
"You choose." Iwaizumi huffed, for he was not good at making decisions.
“The fourth alien movie is playing now so if you- wait well, maybe we should go shopping or something.” Oikawa said, interrupting himself.
“You don’t want to go to the movie?” Iwaizumi asked.
“Um well.. I remembered last time you didn’t really seem to be into aliens and stuff..” Oikawa furrowed his brows slightly.
“Its- its fine we can go see the alien movie anyways.” Iwaizumi said awkwardly.
Oikawa caught on and realized that Iwaizumi felt bad, so he decided to milk it for all it was worth. “No Iwa chan, it’s fine, I get it. A lot of people don’t like aliens, so I understand if you think it’s weird..”
Iwaizumi panicked. “No, no! I’m serious, I don’t mind! I wanna see it with you!”
“You don’t have to if you really don’t want to.. sorry if I pressured you into it.”
Sometimes, Oikawa learned, you have to fake an apology to get a real one.
“No I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have freaked out at you. Makki.. technically wasn’t lying you know. I was just worried about you.”
It took everything in Oikawa not to squeal or giggle; he was expecting some sort of apology, but not such a confession. “Okay silly Iwa chan, we can go then.” Oikawa smiled his usual beam of sunshine and perked right up.
They walked in a comfortable quiet before Iwaizumi suddenly looked over at Oikawa.
“Ah, I just remembered, I made you something..” His ears turned red as he handed Oikawa a small paper bag tied with a piece of yarn.
“Aw, Iwa chan is such a good date!” Oikawa teased as Iwaizumi rolled his eyes.
“Just open it.”
Oikawa dragged out the process as long as possible, solely for the purpose of annoying Iwaizumi. His eyes widened when he pulled out a napkin holding four pieces of perfect home made milk bread.
“YOU MADE ME MILK BREAD!” squealed Oikawa, a look of pure happiness radiating off of him like the sun. “HOW DID YOU KNOW I LIKED IT?”
Iwaizumi almost winced from the sheer positivity that filled the air, and rushed a flustered reply. “Y-you mentioned it.. A few days ago.”
Everything in Oikawa wanted to just throw his arms around this perfect man, but he knew better than to invade people's personal space, so he thanked Iwaizumi so obnoxiously that he was practically shouting it, and started eating as they continued along to their movie.
