When the first rays of light found Oikawa the next morning, he was up immediately. He noticed that Iwa chan wasn’t there, but he wouldn’t let that sway him. He was determined to have a good day.

His leg felt so much better than the day before, and he found that he could take a few ginger steps without the crutches Oikawa Tooru

He picked out a cute outfit and checked the weather. Their first light snow was scheduled for mid-afternoon, and he smiled excitedly. He was going to go Christmas shopping, and he sure had a long list of people. He had put off shopping for a while, he always ended up spending way too much.

Today he was going to try harder to enjoy himself. He began by making himself a nice breakfast, pancakes. He tried not to think about Iwaizumi as he drank his orange juice. He was probably fine.

Oikawa was just brushing his teeth, getting ready to go, when the front door opened and someone entered. “That you Iwa chan?” Oikawa called.

“Yup” came back Iwaizumi's voice, as the shuffling of coats was heard. Oikawa shrugged to himself and walked to the front entrance to put his shoes on.

Iwaizumi cast a curious look at Tooru but didn't comment as he left the door without comment.

Tooru took a deep breath once he headed out, and walked to the mall, taking in the view of the stores.

Oikawa's trip was incredibly uneventful, but despite it he found that there was everything he needed.

He trekked back to his apartment tiredly. If anything, at least the shopping trip helped him forget about Iwaizumi for a bit. When he returned home however, he couldn't avoid it since Iwaizumi was on the sofa.

"How was your date?" Oikawa asked as he sketched quietly.

Iwaizumi nodded and hid a small smile. "It was great."

Oikawa beamed just a little too wide and patted his shoulder. "Iwa chan got laid didn't he."

Iwaizumi went red and smacked Oikawa's hand away. "Shut it shittykawa." he grumbled.

Oikawa laughed lightheartedly and moved away from Iwaizumi almost inconspicuously so as not to worry him.

"I'm glad your date was good." Oikawa smiled and walked gingerly to the front door where his crutches were, before going to the kitchen to make food.

Iwaizumi peeked over at the sketch Oikawa had been working on, and found himself smiling fondly at the practically mirror image staring back at him.

When food was ready, Oikawa stared at it for a moment, contemplating whether to dish it out for the two of them and be petty about it. He decided on the latter and put what he wasn't going to eat back into the fridge with a little smirk on his face.

He walked back to the living room and sat on the sofa beside Iwaizumi, who unbeknownst to Oikawa, had just pushed the sketchbook back to the original position and picked up his phone.

Iwaizumi looked up from his phone to see Oikawa with the dish on his lap.

"food?" Iwaizumi asked, shortly and hopefully. Oikawa shook his head.

"I only cooked for me." he insisted, feeling goosebumps run down his arms in reaction to the obvious lie.

After seeing how Iwaizumi's shoulders slumped however, he didn't have it in him to lie anymore, so sighed and pointed to the fridge.

           "Help yourself."

Iwaizumi looked about as grateful as Oikawa had ever seen him, which wasn't much, but it was something.

They ate in silence, both had put down their phones and focused on the food. Finally, Iwaizumi spoke.

"Kochio was nice," he spoke. "That's Himari, her first name is Kochio," he explained. The thing is, Iwaizumi really thought he was breaking the ice. He wholeheartedly thought that maybe Oikawa would feel better than whatever he was feeling, if he started the conversation. He just happened to choose the wrong conversation, not that he could tell.

Oikawa let his mouth fall back into his overdone smile, and he patted Iwaizumi's shoulder jovially.

"That's great Iwa chan! I'm happy for you!"

Christmas came and passed, their friends Matsukawa and Hanamaki returned from Spain, and Oikawa continued being happy for Iwaizumi. He was happy for Iwaizumi for every successful date the two of them went on, which however seemed to be becoming rarer and rarer. Sure, they made plans often, but Himari had begun calling them off at the last minute and having to leave more and more often, and Iwaizumi insisted on staying oblivious. However, Oikawa and Iwaizumi's encounters became almost unoccurring after Iwaizumi was allowed to leave, and soon enough, they met so rarely that Oikawa felt as if he was getting over what he had decided was just a dumb crush.

Oikawa's leg got better so that he barely had a limp, and he began working again, only now he found himself without the anticipation or excitement of Iwaizumi stopping by.

"So what happened with you and Iwaizumi?" asked Matsukawa's curious voice.

Oikawa shrugged. "I don't know, he didn't seem to like me so much." and that was that.

The rest of that day was slow, and as he found himself at the grocery store collecting chocolate hearts for work, he saw a magazine with Godzilla on the front. Iwaizumi had watched Godzilla a few times when they were together... That's when he noticed that the recurring thoughts of Iwaizumi weren't  going away at all, and he was simply learning to ignore them.

When he got home, he received a text from someone who he fully was not expecting: Iwaizumi.

Iwa chan

6:02- is my phone at your place? I lost it for a while and I never thought to ask.

6:03- I haven't seen it, I'll go look around, hold on for a second.

Oikawa looked around in every room, but the phone didn't turn up. He didn't mind so much, his mind was occupied with disappointment that Iwaizumi had only wanted his phone.

I guess Iwaizumi really didn't care about me so much..

Iwa chan

6:31- sorry, didn't see it.

Seen, 6:35

Oikawa tossed his phone onto the sofa angrily and went to bed, hoping that if anything he would feel better in the morning.

That night he dreamed about that missing page in his sketchbook.. Who even remembered what was in it?
