The time struck one in the morning. A while after the dead body was discovered the neighborhood was soon swarmed with police vehicles, police officers evacuated the partiers from the house and tapped it with yellow ribbon officially declaring it a crime scene.
It was a noisy night as the wail of the ambulance siren woke the neighbors who gathered around trying to get a peak at the scene.
In the midst of the noisy inquiries made by the concerned and curious onlookers a grey Aston Martin convertible pulled in next to one of the police cars.
Detective Batista smoothly trot across the road bent over the tape, rounded the building and passed a few forensics specialist digging around the land trying to a clue.
Caleb Batista was tired. He had just finished digesting he's cheese burgers and fries starving after just coming back from he's precinct and ready to retire for the night when he got the call.
Half his squad was at the scene including him wearing a badge and holding a notepad asking questions around when he's most frequent partner Gomez glanced at him.
They all looked normal and freshed but of course the rest of them took over the precinct for the night.
Putting on a pair of rubber gloves he went closer to were the body had presumably been and took a careful sweep around taking in the the grass and the maroon wall.
Eloise Gomez, Batista's partner for almost a decade now excused herself from the paramedic and immediately stood next to Batista who squat down to take a better look.
"What do we have here? This better be a big case I was just getting ready for my ten hour nap!"
Gomez shook her head at his unprofessionalism and held back the smile that threatened to breakout at her crushes goofiness.
"Well sorry to disturb your state of hibernation but yeah this is a big case!" She steadied her stance "The victim is Noah Fork. Twenty-one year old student, captain of the basketball team and head of this-" she pointed to the building "-fraternity it says here that Noah and the rest of the basketball team threw a party celebrating the national tournament-"
"Who won?" Caleb asked genuinely curious.
"them obviously dumbass! Anyway from what I gathered he seemed to have been in a struggle before he died due to the wounds and bruises on him." she showed him a picture the corpse "his room is thrashed so I'm assuming that's where it transpired and the room so happens to be right there ." She pointed to the window of the room right above.
"Let's go see it." His partner led him to the stairs and ascended it before reaching the entrance of the room, passing the forensics Caleb entered while Eloise hung back to talk to them.
The deceased room was the master bedroom which had its own bathroom. The room was a mess with dirty clothes and broken glass lying around and his bedside drawer crashed with his wardrobe bent over, his bed was unmade and Batista nostrils contract with the awful cologne that diffused around the room.
For a minute the detective couldn't decide whether the room was messy because of the assumed struggle or that the deceased Noah didn't know how to tidy up.
"Alright, what happened is that-"
"Wait let me-" he dramatically turned around and pointed to the respective locations "-the killer barged in while Noah was busy in bed, Noah infuriated yelled at the killer to leave but the killer went in. Noah and the killer fought and one of the must have hit the mirror which broke. Then the killer got in a couple of punches and kicks when Noah suddenly pushed him to the closet, that's why it toppled over on top of Noah. The killer slit his throat and then threw him off that window."
