Chapter 19

"Dolcezza, are you okay?"

"Shit! that's just messed up."

"who would do such a thing!"

"I think I'm going to puke."

My ears were ringing.

It was hard to focus on a voice.

It was hard to tear my eyes away from the tv screen blaring with news of his death.

I could feel someone calling out from beside me. But all I felt was numb.

At this point it was hard to control my breathing. My chest thumped hard and my hands shook.

Why did I feel this way? I only just knew him for a few months. Even after all he did?

I was as confused as I was terrified.

Fuck you Jacob!

"René, córka! Are you alright?"

Eight pairs of eyes were locked on me. It wasn't hard to make out the worry all of them held for me. I must've been so distracted that I didn't notice kane and his wife Carrie's arrival.

"When did you guys get here?" With a shaky voice I asked Kane.

"Half an hour ago, but that's not important right now. Do you know him?" His green eyes were piercing. Sometimes I find it creepy when he just looks right into my eyes just to intimidate me.

"Uhh... Yes I did know him." I shifted on the couch and stared at the screen which has now moved to another news. "He and I dated for a bit."

"Shit Ren are you okay?"

Jade clasped her hands on mine and stroked my back.

"No, I'm not. This is not the first time this happening to someone I know." I didn't mean to spill that out. And judging by the expression on thier faces, I seriously shouldn't have.

"What's that supposed to mean?" Eryk was in front of me on the other leather seat.

Sid was standing behind them.

Out of everyone here he was the one who kept his cool, although he was as shocked as I was, he didn't let it consume him.

I threw a questioning glance at him and he nodded.

That was enough support to share what had happened. I told them everything. From the moment I met Jacob to the time we started dating and the party where everything went down.

It was hard to take in. Not as hard as it is to experience it though.

After I was done nobody said a word.

"It's probably the same killer who murdered Noah." Aldo voiced out. He was always the smart one in the family.

"We can't jump into conclusions boy. Listen the cops are gonna want to interrogate you again..." Everyone nodded in agreement "But you have to be strong and stick to the truth. You only knew him for a couple of weeks and then he broke your heart at the party. You haven't heard from him ever since. You got that?"

My mind was clear.

"córka, Do you understand?"

Void of any thought, I nodded.

"Good, they have no reason to lock you up. Now, how about we all have some dinner."

Eryk came forward to tap my head before leaving the room.

Jade squeezed the arm she was stroking "he's right sweetie. I'm sorry for your loss and you have a right to feel sorry, but he was an asshole who didn't deserve you. So just come have dinner. I made one of your favorites. "
