Time skip to second year in the great hall for the sorting.

The group of now 12-year-old Gryffindors were sitting at their table waiting for the new students to be sorted into their houses.

"Isn't your little brother joining this year?" James asked Sirius.

"Yes but he'll probably follow the family in Slytherin." Sirius said looking upset.

"Just because he gets Slytherin doesn't mean anything Sirius." Luna said.

"He won't talk to me after that Luna. I am the family disgrace." Sirius said. Luna frowned and put her hands on Sirius's shoulders turning him to face her.

"You are not a disgrace do you understand me Sirius Black. You are perfect just the way you are and if your family can't see that then they're not worth your time." Luna said. Sirius nodded his head toward the girl, but still bad thoughts went thru his head. Over with the first-year student a certain dark-haired boy had read his brothers thoughts and felt bad for what he would have to do.

"When I call your name, you will sit on the stool and let the sorting hat sort you into your houses." Professor McGonagall said holding the hat and a list of names. The sorting started and it was finally the dark-haired boys turn.

"Regulus Black." Professor McGonagall said. The boy walked to the stool getting hard stares from the Slytherins and a worried look from his brother and a blonde girl at the Gryffindor table. Regulus looked toward the blonde girl as he sat down, he thought she was the prettiest girl he'd ever seen in his life, and she was sitting right next to his brother. The sorting hat was then placed on Regulus head blocking his view of the girl.

"A Black. Where should I put you." The sorting hat said in Regulus head. Regulus kept his thoughts only on Slytherin to please his family.

"You want to be a Slytherin for your family, your brother was the opposite of you, he wanted to even be in Ravenclaw before Slytherin." The sorting hat said in his head. Regulus couldn't help but give a light chuckle at what the hat said.

"Better be Slytherin." The hat said, Regulus smile quickly fell as the hat was removed and he walked to his new house table. Regulus couldn't look toward his brother as he sat at his new table, he did however look into his brothers' mind to see what he thought.

"I knew he'd be put in Slytherin, always has to please the family." Sirus thought. Regulus looked down at the table disappointed in himself for hurting his brother.

"Thats enough Sirius don't think like that." Regulus heard the girl say to his brother. He wondered if she was a legitimate like him.

"I hate when you do that." Sirius said.

"Do what?" The girl asked.

"Read my mind." Sirius said.

"I didn't read your mind Sirius; I could see it by the look on your face." Luna said. Regulus was shocked that she didn't read his brothers mind but knew exactly what Sirius was thinking.

" Still creepy how you do that all the time." Sirius said. Luna rolled her eyes and stood up grabbing Sirius hand walking his toward his brother. Regulus looked around to see if they were really walking toward him. He got nerves when he realized that they actually were.

"Hi, my name is Luna Lupin and your Regulus correct." Luna said smiling toward Regulus. Regulus shyly looked up toward the girl and his brother.

"Yes." Regulus said. Luna smiled more and pulled Sirius right beside her in front of his brother.

"Well, we just want to say congratulations on getting into Slytherin and if you want to hang out with us in free period or lunch your always welcome to." Luna said. Regulus looked shocked between his brother and Luna.

"I didn't think you'd want to be seen with me after I was sorted into Slytherin." Regulus said to his brother.

"Your still my brother Reggie." Sirius said.

"Yes, then I won't be the only younger sibling in the group anymore as well. You can help me pick on these boys like they pick on me." Luna said smiling toward Regulus. Regulus smiled at Luna and nodded in agreement.

"That would be cool." Regulus said.

"Good when you get your schedule tomorrow bring it to me and we can see when we can all hang out together." Luna said smiling at the younger boy. Regulus smiled at Luna and nodded in agreement. Sirius smiled at his younger brother and started walking back to their table.

"Don't be a stranger Reg." Sirius called over his shoulder as he walked Luna back to the table. Regulus turned back toward his table seeing other Slytherins glaring at him just for talking to the Gryffindor students, he didn't care thou he ignored them and ate his dinner in silence.
