11. The materialization of dark fear

"Abuela! We can save the miracle!" exclaims Mirabel excitedly, rising hurriedly from her seat. "The magic-"

"but what are you talking about, you haven't seen the house, and your sister!" She points to Isabela who makes part of what she created disappear, frightened, and Riku notices how those vines of darkness grow around her again, pressing down and hurting her.

"It's just that Isabela wasn't feeling happy," Mirabel founds. "She-"

"How could she be happy! You ruined her marriage proposal!" Alma reminds her.

"It's just that I was supposed to. Now... now look at everything we did! Everything-the candle shone brighter than ever! The cracks were going away and that's why I know I can save the- Sora?" Mirabel is odd that he comes closer, almost covering for her.

"Don't try," Sora says. "She's not going to hear you, I don't know why, but the darkness surrounds her in such a way that it won't let her hear you." he mutters seeing that Alma is little more than a huge shadow.

"But what I say is true! The candle glowed, the cracks went away, and that's why I saw myself in Tío Bruno's vision! That's why I-"

"That's enough Mirabel!" scolds Alma approaching Mirabel. "The cracks started because of you!" she says directly, twitching to all who stand there. "Bruno is gone because of you. Luisa runs out of powers, Isabela is out of control because of you" Mirabel slowly backs away, her eyes getting watery. "I don't know why you didn't get a gift, but that's no excuse to be destroying this family!"

Mirabel slowly lowers her gaze.

"And you two" She looks towards Sora and Riku. "Get out of my house! I'm tired of dealing with two pests here! That you two sure have made everything worse with your disgusting presence...!"

"We're not leaving here until we fix the world! Everyone here is going to disappear if it's not done!" argues Sora at once, facing her fearlessly to the surprise of Luisa, Isabela, Agustin and Julieta. "What you're doing, what doesn't want to see-what not even trying to see!" Sora corrects himself by bringing a hand to his chest. "You're hurting everyone's hearts, killing the heart of this family and it must stop now."

"I'm not going to let a disgusting deviant like you talk to me like that in my own home."

"I care little" Sora gropes her before she touches him. "Nor do I care about having to go over your head to save everyone here. This family is full of light, a dying light and you do nothing to heal it" Alma looks more annoyed with each passing second, unable to stand Sora speaking the truth to her. "Where was the protection to her family?! To the miracle! It should be the most important thing and it has ceased to be!"

"I'm never going to be good enough for you am I?" Alma doesn't respond to Sora for hearing Mirabel's murmur. "It doesn't matter... no matter how hard I try. I'll never be good enough for you." she sobs brokenly.

"No. Because all it brings, is misfortune, Mirabel." replies Alma.

Mirabel looks down at her sisters who have their heads bowed. The ground begins to crack and there are slight tremors. Riku looks around. He has a bad feeling about this.

"No matter how hard any of us try" She expands tearfully. "Luisa will never be strong enough, Isabela will never be perfect enough" They both give a pitiful glance at their younger sister, incredulous and even entertained that she, the youngest, is the one defending them. "Bruno left this family because he only saw the worst in it."

"He never cared about this family! From the moment his gift was just as unfortunate as his birth, Mirabel! He never loved this family...!"

"HE LOVED THIS FAMILY! I LOVE THIS FAMILY!" she assures tapping her chest. "YOU'RE THE ONLY ONE WHO DOESN'T CARE AND THAT'S WHY YOU LET US FALL MORE AND MORE! YOU DON'T CARE...!"
