"LOOK AT THAT, I'M ALL DONE," Amira cooed, giving Sasha a stashed lollipop. She stopped crying immediately and faced the mirror to watch herself have at it. Amira smiled softly and fluffed out her braided-up pigtails that ended in curls. "You're such a big girl now," She wrapped her arms around Sasha's small waist and smiled at her through the mirror, wiping tear stains from her cheeks. "You look so pretty," Sasha continued smacking on the lollipop.

Too busy in her own world.

"Is my birthday girl ready?" Victoria came skipping into her and Warren's bedroom. Amira turned and Victoria gasped softly. "Oh my," She walked over and bent down to look at her beautiful baby girl through the mirror, touching her hair. "Happy birthday my love," She snuggled her now 1-year-old and kissed her cheek. "Grazie, Amira," She hugged her.

"She's so beautiful, thank you."

"Anything. Because of you giving me a chance at this job despite Carter and Cato begging you," She rolled her eyes at the thought and Victoria laughed. "I trust my boys' intuition, for the most part. They can be...pushy at times," Amira scoffed in my head wanting to agree with her aloud on that note. But that would be getting too comfortable. She is still her boss after all. "So I've heard," She choked out, smiling painfully hard. The woman had no idea.

"But they weren't wrong about you, sweetie." Her smile was less forced and more genuine as she stared at the angel-sent woman, wondering how could anyone risk losing someone as sweet and kind-hearted as her.

"They definitely have their ways of showing how they care, but just you taking the chance on me anyway, allowed me to save up faster than ever before for college and to be welcomed into such a great family and I just want to say thank you if I haven't already told you enough since day one."

Victoria was in awe of the sweet girl and grabbed her hands. "How are you doing? From one traumatic experience to another," Amira sighed heavily. The more time she spent with this family, the more she felt welcomed and a part of them. Although Victoria is her boss, she also felt like a friend.

"I'm okay," She nodded. Victoria rubbed her thumbs over her knuckles which made Amira fight back tears, missing her own mother and wishing she could talk to her about her difficult situation. Not that she couldn't. It just isn't easy to tell her parents yet again.

"For now," She continued after the knowing look she received. "The kids don't know how my face got beat up, but they've been trying to make me feel better. Especially the twins. In their own chaotic way."

Victoria smiled, not being able to resist hugging her.

"Hang in there, Tesoro. I promise it gets better again over time. It's not easy, but I can promise you that it does get easier. Just keep going strong," Amira squeezed the woman tight. "Thank you, Mrs. Knight."

"You're very welcome sweetheart," She rubbed her back before darting her eyes to the figure leaning against the door. "This is a picture-perfect moment," Amira pulled away and turned around to face Carter smiling at them. "This is what I love to see. My two favorite girls getting along, Ciao mamma," He greeted his mother with a kiss on the cheek. Amira placed a hand over her stomach as if that would stop the butterflies.
