☊ | track forty-three—good days

"LOVE?" AMIRA HUMMED IN RESPONSE as Carter rubbed her thigh soothingly before slipping the same hand into hers and bringing it up to his lips to kiss. "You okay?" He'd been checking up on her since they left and she was oddly quiet, but he didn't find it all too weird after today. Amira smiled softly and looked away from the passenger side window. "Yeah I'm good, why do you ask?"

"You're just quiet, I wanted to make sure."

"Oh, well I'm good. I'm just thinking."

"Good or bad things?"

"Mm, both."

"Want to talk about it? I'm always here to talk."

"Another day, promise." He glanced at her looking back out of the window and pressed a repeated kiss to her knuckles. "Where do you want to go to get away? Just for a day, you and me. Hm?" Her eyes gazed up at the darkening sky in thought before she finally made up her mind. "Hotel."

As confused as he was, he wouldn't question it. This was about getting her away for the day to free her mind from today. If it were a simple hotel she requested, a simple hotel she'd get. "Okay," He replied and she was grateful that he didn't ask any questions. "Can you keep doing that? Kissing there? It feels nice," Carter smiled, burying his lips further against their interlocked fingers and placed small comforting kisses on her knuckles and the back of her hand. "Like this?"

"Mhm," She sunk a little and leaned against the side
of the door, watching the sky before closing her eyes.

"Sleepy?"

"Just a little bit I can't sleep just yet."

"Why not?"

"Just drive to your house really quick first."

"Sure, is there something there you want?"

"In a sense."

Still, Carter didn't ask any questions thinking it'll all come together sooner or later. But he was just left with even more confusion after they arrived at his house shortly after and as she stepped out of the car, he had to ask.

"Okay I have to ask, why are we here love?"

"I'm going to get Cato."

He immediately hopped out of the car following after her but she shut him down before he could protest. "Do you trust me?" She crossed her arms and he huffed in defeat.

"You know the answer to that."

"Then tell me."

"I trust you."

"Good," He watched her turn and walk up the long pathway and stop by the door. Pulling out her phone to shoot him a text. A minute later, Cato came outside in comfortable sweatpants and a t-shirt like he was getting ready for bed early. "Hi," He was surprised that she texted him to meet her. "How are you feeling?" Without a word, she took him by the hand making him jolt at her touch a little, and walked him to the car. "What's happening?" He looked between her and his brother with knitted eyebrows and with a dull tone, Carter replied, "Yeah, I would really like to know too."
