This was a time when Max was still a tiny baby.

"WWWWWAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!" Max screamed and cried.

The three month old baby was screamed as Eda was rocking him in her arms. Eda couldn't understand why he was so upset. She gave him a bottle, she was cuddling him, she burped him. What more did he want?

"Come on little guy. Make this easy for me. I know you're sick. But please make this easy." Eda begged. Once he calmed down, Eda laid him down on his crib.

Eda paced back and forth in the living room of the Owl House, her face etched with worry. Y/N was out running errands in Bonesborough and wouldn't be back for a few hours. Meanwhile, their little boy Max lay in his crib, his tiny body burning up with fever.

Eda had tried everything she could think of to bring his temperature down - she'd given him medicine, sponged him down with cool water, and even tried to get him to drink some chamomile tea. Nothing seemed to be working, and Eda was starting to panic.

Just then, the front door opened and Y/N walked in, carrying a bag of groceries. "Hey, Eda," they said, setting the bag down on the kitchen counter. "How's Max doing?"

"He's not doing so good," Eda replied, her voice trembling. "His fever won't come down, and I don't know what to do."

Y/N rushed over to the crib and felt Max's forehead. "Yeah, he's definitely hot," they said, frowning. "Let me see if I can find anything in these groceries that might help."

Y/N began rifling through the bags, pulling out various herbs and remedies. They mixed up a concoction of elderberry syrup, honey, and thyme, which they urged Max to swallow. It wasn't easy. They also made a compress of cool water and chamomile, which Eda placed on his forehead.

For several long minutes, there was silence in the room as they waited to see if the remedies would work. Finally, Max's breathing became less labored, and his skin felt cooler to the touch.

"He's doing better," Eda said, a note of relief in her voice.

"Yeah, I think he'll be okay," Y/N said, smiling at their little family. "We just have to keep an eye on him and make sure he gets plenty of rest."

Eda nodded, grateful for Y/N's quick thinking and knowledge of herbal remedies. As they settled in to watch over Max, she felt a wave of gratitude wash over her - even in the darkest moments, she knew she could count on her loved ones to help her through.
