Once a fair distance from Quirrel, Hornet quickened to a sprint. The ghost must have wandered far during her exchange with Quirrel. As she ran through the rain, completely oblivious to her shawl, she entered the zone once more. It felt like freedom. But it couldn't last forever; she soon spotted the ghost, seemingly overwhelmed by his surroundings. But above all, he stared up at the prominent statue.

The statue was of the Hollow Knight, a great warrior that had contributed to Hallownest's survival. Or, at most, partial survival. It saddened Hornet to think about. In truth, she greatly missed the bustling days of the kingdom. Nowadays it was only a cast-off shell of what is used to be. And this memorial was only a reminder that none of the King's efforts to save the kingdom had succeeded. Yet she understood that the sacrifice he had given was the only thing that kept it standing, even in this weakened, empty state. She had to admit it still stood, yearning for its glory days. And it brought her hope.

Nevertheless, the ghost only continued to stare up at the statue as Hornet walked up behind him in reverence.

"It's no surprise you've managed to reach the heart of this world. In so doing, you shall know the sacrafice that keeps it standing. If, knowing that truth, you'd still attempt a role in Hallownest's perpetuation, seek the Grave in Ash and the mark it would grant to one like you."

That was her first clue to the secrets only she knew about the fallen kingdom. She was still unsure of the ghost's intentions, but if her suspicions were true- if he did seek to save the kingdom from its inevitable final destruction- which the Hollow Knight's sacrifice had only delayed... he would need her clues and her help to do it, regardless of his skill and intuition.

The ghost looked down toward his feet, contemplating her clue. Then it looked up at her and nodded. He got up and headed across the rain drenched street towards a building. Although she and the ghost had teamed up, she still got the impression that he was a lone ranger, like her. If their partnership was going to work out, she'd have to leave him alone from time to time. Constantly trailing him would wear him out, and her too.

Choosing to give him another break, and needing one herself, she sat down in the rain next to the statue. The statue of her brother.
