1 year, 3 months, 11 days. That's how long I've known where exactly where my mate was, and not gone to him. Maybe I should backup
My name is Rivianna and I am around 1,600 years old. Yep, that old, and no I'm not a vampire. I am a goddess, a death goddess, and Thanatos' counterpart. My parents are Hades and Persephone. I collect souls in dead bodies or if my father wants me to collect someone in particular I kill them. Sounds creepy but it's what I was born to do.
Last year, I collected a soul from a werewolf in a small pack outside of London. That's when I saw him, my soul mate. Linkin Forrest, Alpha to the Silver Lake Pack. You might ask why I'm not with him, and the answer is stupid, I'm scared. I'm scared that he will reject me after learning my nature.
I'm not exactly sure why I'm telling my story, or if I'm doing it right. But I am, so let's just jump into it.
I had to hurry, if not I would be late to family dinner, and if I was late my mother would skin me alive. No joke. But the idiot in front of me had other plans, he was making my job harder than need be.
"Is there any chance that you will just give up?" I asked.
"Not a chance in hell."
"You're right. You don't have a chance in hell, I do." With the last word I finally got him with a roundhouse kick to the chest. "Don't worry, I'm sure you'll go to Elysium. Just kidding."
I gathered his soul quickly and ran to my bike, I was so going to skinned.
Speeding all the way to the next portal I made it home just as the clock turned. I pulled up to the castle not bothering to park in the garage and ran inside doing a wardrobe change as I went. Somehow I made it to the dining hall presentable in a black chiton only seconds late. Luckily only my father was seated at the head of the table, my mother nowhere in sight. I took a seat quickly.
"Where is Mother?" I asked.
"She's late. The first time in over a millennium, you are so lucky." Hades answered.
"The Fates were smiling upon me," I said innocently.
"What'd you do?"
"Called in a favor, Thanatos will be joining us shortly."
"What kind of favor?"
Before I could answer, my mother and Than walked in. They were seated quickly and we were served by our kitchen staff. Tonight we have were having steak.
"So how was your day Rivianna? My mother asked.
"Fine thanks, what did you do all day?"
"Some housekeeping things. A shade had wandered into the forest, so I got to go for a ride on the chariot."
"Sounds exciting."
We enjoyed the rest of our meal, chatting just like every week. By the time the meal was over, I was ready to strangle someone. But Thanatos walked me back to my room like a true gentleman.
"Night Than," I gave him a quick kiss on the cheek and escaped inside my room. Before I could close the door though he followed me.
"We need to talk Riv," he told me.
"'Bout what?"
"You."
"Than..."
"You found your mate," it wasn't a question. "You've been waiting, trying to figure out whether or not to go to him. You're scared of rejection."
"How... When..."
"The moment you started ignoring me a little over a year ago."
"1 year, 3 months, 11 days."
"Exactly."
"So what..."
"Do I think you should do? I think..."
"Okay stop! The first few times I get but STOP INTERRUPTING ME!" An awkward silence stretched. "Well you're not interrupting now, continue."
"I think you should go to him. If he rejects you, I will kill him and you can move on. Or you can be happy together. You'll never know until you try."
"You think?"
"I know."
"So what? I just pack up and go?"
"Take a vacation, you haven't had one in a millennium. Your father will understand."
I hugged him, "Than, you're the best. Don't let anything exciting happen without me."
"I would never."Quickly I packed some essentials, and some cash. I made sure everything would be taken care of and grabbed my keys. Before I sped off, I sent a quick prayer to Aphrodite, and I left.
