Chapter Five

The next morning I woke up to Linkin kissing my forehead. I hummed opening my eyes slowly. I turned and saw him leaning on one arm gazing at me.

"Your adorable when you sleep," Linkin commented.

"Thanks?" I groaned and pulled myself out of bed. "Want to go for a run before I leave?"

"I would love to."

Together we walked out to the forest, I shook out my limbs and shifted. Linkin following in suit. My wolf was black as night, same as my hair. Linkin was brown with blonde flecks.

After our run, I went back upstairs. When I shifted back, my clothes had changed to a black chiton and silver sandals. I packed my stuff in my backpack, but left my clothes. I planned on coming back real soon. I set my bag by the door and did a quick sweep to make sure I didn't leave something.

Linkin was waiting for me on the bed. "There's something I wanted to give you before you left. Here."

He handed me a small velvet box. I opened it and lifted the small silver wolf charm. "It's beautiful! Oh thank you!" I hugged him.

"Just something to remember me by in Hades." I pulled my hair to the side and fastened it around my neck.

"Will you do something for me? Tell Lexi about this. And tell her there a God I would like for her to meet. His name is Hypnos."

"Of course."

"I'll be back as soon as I can. Promise." I grabbed my bag and headed out.

I put on my helmet and started the engine. Soon enough I was on the highway. I turned off on a small dirt road and turned again into a small clearing. I lined up with the portal and hit the gas. I shot through onto the ledge that Charon's boat rested beside.

"Rivianna?" Charon asked startled.

"Sorry, this was the closest portal. How're the grandkids?"

Charon told me all about them as we boated towards home. I left my bike, knowing someone would retrieve it. Soon I was home. I hoofed it into the kitchen, I had never been so grateful that our chef always had ambrosia cookies.

I quickly scarfed down three, and grabbed a bottle of nectar from the fridge. I felt good enough to teleport so I did. I opened my eyes and immediately closed them.

"Hypnos what the hell!" I yelled. He was naked and getting it on with some random goddess.

"Holy..." He grabbed a blanket. "What are you doing teleporting into someone's house?"

"I didn't think you would be screwing someone in the living room!"

"Well you obviously don't know me." I grabbed his ear and dragged him into the kitchen. "Uh um, see you later Psamathe."

"I don't know what Aphrodite had or hasn't told you but you should be trying to find your destined! Not fucking some whore goddess!" I took a deep breath. "I promised that I would take you to your mate, a very good friend of mine. But if this is what your going to do? Then no, go back to your whore."

I started to walk away, but Hypnos caught my arm. "You found my destined?" It wasn't his hand that stopped me, it was his voice. He sounded ashamed, angry, and unbelieving in a good way.

"Yes, she's waiting for you. As you were for her."

"When can I meet her? Soon?" He asked.

"Very, I just want to see your brother and my parents quickly. Then we'll go."

"Great I'll come with you!"

"Great," I chugged the bottle of nectar I brought and teleported us both back to Hades.

I teleported right into the throne room where my parent had just finished judgement on a soul.

"Rivi," my father rose and hugged me.

"How have you been dear? Everything good with you're mate?" My mother piped in.

"Amazing. I just popped in to fetch this idiot and see you guys."

"Well we don't want to see you!" My mother exclaimed.

"Persephone?" Hades asked at the same time is exclaimed "Mom!"

"Well you just met your mate! Go make out or something, be with him!"

"Okay! But I want to see Than before I leave again."

"He's down in Tartarus," my father said.

"Great! You coming?" I asked Hypnos.

"Uh no... I'll wait here."

"Okay, be back in a flash."

I teleported, and could see Than confronting Tityos, a giant that had attempted to rape Leto. As far as I could tell he killed one of the vultures that would peck out his liver everyday.

"Hey Than!" I said cheerfully as i got closer.

"Hey!" He pulled me into a hug.

"So he finally killed one of the poor birds?"

"Yes he did. Whatever shall we do to him?" Thanatos asked innocently.

"Well we already used hang, draw, and quarter, that Chinese water thing, drowning in fire, hmmm..."

"How about wolves?"

"Now you're talking," I grinned.

"You guys are sick freaks you know! Thinking of way to torture people!" Tityos yelled.

My eyes flashed with anger, "We're the sick ones? You tried to rape a goddess, and then blamed it on another. You're lucky there's no openings in Hell for you because honestly it can be worse than this. At least that's what I've been told."

"Hey calm down, don't waste your time on that piece of shit."

"Wolves huh... that I can do." I concentrated and out of nowhere three gray wolves bounded toward me. I knelt, "Now, you boys have a very important job. I want you to listen close now, you are to..."

When I was done, I stood and saw Than staring at me. He grinned, "Oh how I missed you."

I laughed, "I got to get back to the castle. Hypnos is waiting for me."

"Why? That good for nothing brother of mine..."

I didn't hear what came after that, a soul shattering pain ripped though me. I fell to the ground with a scream. I felt the pain spread until even my hair hurt. I screamed until my throat was raw and then kept going. I could hear Than faintly but couldn't concentrate. I felt myself being lifted and then heard voices of my parents and Hypnos asking what was wrong. I twisted trying to be free of the pain, another wave hit me and I couldn't breathe. Although I don't really have to breathe, it felt crucial for life. Then another wave, larger then the others combined hit me, hard. I screamed such a bone chilling scream that it frightened me.

It was gone.
