Wanda woke with a horrible start.
She was surrounded by darkness; she wondered if her eyes had still been closed.
No. They weren't.
She felt as if she was floating, in the middle of nowhere not being able to move.
Then she had a terrible thought- what if she was dead?
That theory was immediately proven wrong as she suddenly smacked face first onto a hard, stone floor.
Piercing light suddenly filled her eyes, making her squint. As her vision focused she began to take note of her surroundings.
She was in some sort of palace- there were pillars on either side of her, each the size of about a 15 story building. They were holding a ceiling that looked like it could hold the entire Avengers tower.
In fact the entire area was regal and beautiful, as if it was straight from an artists' drawing.Wanda snapped to her senses.
Despite this place looking like it was straight from a fantasy, she had to wonder where in the world she was.
"Glad to see you made a safe trip."
said a calm but mischievous voice with a slightly english accent behind her.She turned around in fright and she witnessed a man in a green and black cloak.
But Wanda didn't have time for introductions- which was clearly what the man was doing- she didn't think-she acted.
"I am L-"
He was cut off when Wanda shot a beam of her magic at him. But instead of injuring him, it passed through him, literally phasing through his body and it made contact with the wall behind him instead.
At first Wanda had thought she had killed him-but she was wrong. The man's image faded and dematerialized, looking almost as if it were part of the air. Suddenly, he was gone.
"I thought you might be a little hostile at first," said the same voice voice from behind Wanda. It was the same man, not impaled or injured at all. He stood confident and still, and this time he held a staff in his hand that was sharpened at the point.
Wanda prepared to blast him again-for real this time. She raised her hands, ready to use her magic.
"Now wait just a second!" said the man dropping the staff and throwing his hands in the air.
"I'm a friend, Wanda. I'm here to help you."
Wanda stopped her hands in mid motion, ready to obliterate the man.
"Where am I?" she said sternly. "And how do you know me?" She lowered her hands to her sides, but she was still as agile and cautious- for Wanda did not give her trust away easily.
"I am Loki," said the man. "And you are in Asgard."
Wanda raised her hands again, about to blast him with magic.
"Tell me the truth!" she demanded.
"I am nothing if not 100% honest." Loki responded.
Wanda didn't buy it. She looked into his mind. She saw herself laying in bed in the Avengers tower, where she last remembered being, after another tiring mission with the Avengers. She then saw Loki transporting her to the place she was now, a palace.
She read deeper into his thoughts she witnessed his past, growing up with a brother, who looked slightly familiar.
She then looked on to see him standing on a tower, elevated in front of a city. She saw that the city was being destroyed and attacked by some sort of army.
Wanda then caught a glimpse of a man in a red cape and what looked like a hammer in his hand.
Wait, Wanda wondered, that's not- it is! Wanda saw that it was Thor- another Avenger she once fought alongside of.
She put two and two together. Loki was Thor's brother. She then saw what Loki was thinking, his plans of vengeance conquer, and greed...
Then she thought of a brilliant plan.
"Okay," Wanda said at last. She lowered her hands and listened to what Loki had to say.
"What do you want of me, Loki?"
Loki grinned. He bent down and picked up his staff.
"Wanda Maximoff," Loki said, "You and I are going to do great things together."
