"I told y'all-"

Daryl shoves Randall back against the wall inside the barn. "You told us shit!"

"I barely knew those guys. I met 'em on the road."

Daryl holds up a knife. "How many in your group?"

Randal scoots further against the wall, pleading. "Uh... uh 30. 30 guys."

"Where?" Y/N asks leaning forward.

"I- I don't know I swear. We were never any place more than a night."

Daryl gets in the kids face. "Scouting? Planning on staying local?"

Randall flinches as Daryl puts the knife close to his head. "I don't know! They left me behind."

The knife goes closer. "Listen i'm trying to cooperate."

Daryl places the knife against his skin. Y/N looks at him. He gives her a look that says "I've got this."

Randall shivers from the cold metal. "Okay!  Okay. They have weapons. Heavy stuff. Automatics. But- but I didn't do anything!"

Daryl grunts. "Your boys shot at my people, tried to take this farm. You just went along for the ride? You're trying to tell me you're innocent?"

"Yes!"

There's a pause. "These people took me in. Not just guys-- a whole group of 'em. Men and women, kids too-- just like you people. Thought I'd have a better chance with them, you know? But... we go out, scavenge-- just the men."

Y/N gently pulls Daryl's knife away as Randall talks.

"One night, we-- we found this little campsite. A man and his two daughters-- teenagers, you know? Real young. Real cute. Like you." He points at Y/N.

Her eyes widen and she looks at Daryl, who is putting two and two together.

Randall continues. "Their daddy had to watch while these guys-- they-- and they didn't even kill him afterwards. They just-- they just made him watch as his daughters-- they just-just-- just left him there."

Y/N stands and walks to the door.

"No, but-but-- but I didn't touch those girls. No, I swear I didn't to-- please. Please. You gotta believe me, man. I'm not like that. I ain't like that. Please. Please, you gotta believe me."

She nods at Daryl who gives him one hard punch in the face, knocking him out cold.

Daryl and Y/N leave the barn, disgusted. They walk up to the others who are gathered outside, talking about Randall.

"Boy there's got a gang, 30 men. They have heavy artillery and they ain't looking to make friends." Daryl tells them.

"They roll through here... our men are dead. And us women... we're gonna... we're gonna wish we were." Y/N finishes, with a sigh.

Carol looks at Daryl's bloodied hand. "What did you do?"

He looks down. "Had a little chat."

Carol looks at Y/N but her eyes don't give anything away.

Rick shakes his head. "No one goes near this guy."

Lori eyes him. "Rick, what are you gonna do?"

Rick rubs his head. "We have no choice. He's a threat. We have to eliminate the threat."

Dale widens his eyes. "So... so what you're just gonna kill him?"

"It's settled. I'll do it today."

A couple hours later, the group stands around in the living room.

Glenn speaks first. "So how do we do this? Do we take a vote?"

"Does it have to be unanimous?" Andrea asks.

"How about majority rules?" Rick says. There's a pause. "From where I sit, there's only one way to move forward."

"Killing him right?" Dale questions. "I mean, why even bother to even take a vote? It's clear which way the wind's blowing."

Rick sighs. "Well, if people believe we should spare him, I wanna know."

"Well, I can tell you it's a small group-- maybe just me and Glenn." Dale says.

Glenn looks at Y/N. He looks back at Dale. "Look, I-- I think you're pretty much right about everything, all the time, but this-"

Dale groans. "They've got you scared."

"He's not one of us. One of 'em shot Y/N. You tellin' me you're okay with that?" Daryl asks pointedly.

"Of course i'm not okay with that. I just- can't we at least keep him prisoner? No reason to kill him."

"Just another mouth to feed." Shane says.

The conversation gets more heated. There's talk about Randall being put to work. Talk about killing him. Saving him. Dale tells them that we don't kill the living. It's Rick's famous saying. Sometimes those rules don't apply.

Dale looks at everyone, with disgust after the verdict is made. Randall will die tonight. "This group is broken."

Everyone gathers on the porch, as Shane and Rick go to the barn to take care of the boy. Everything is quiet until suddenly a shout can be heard out from a field. Everyone takes off towards the sounds, weapons in hands.

Y/N gets there first followed by Rick.

It's Dale.

A walker ripped open his stomach. Y/N looks away with a hand on her mouth. Glenn arrives and pulls her close, head facing away.

Rick yells at Hershel to operate but Hershel just shakes his head.

It's too late for Dale.

Rick raises his gun but hesitates. Daryl gently takes the gun from his hands. He aims it at Dale's head.

"I'm sorry brother."

The gunshot is loud. Y/N feels tears form in her eyes. Another member. Gone. Just like that.

How is it that Randall is still alive, and Dale is dead?

Amy. Jim. Jacqui. Sophia. Dale.

Where can they go from here?
