Chapter 5: Day Debut

The next day, Arizona walked downstairs to go to school. Nevada was sitting on the couch reading her book when she saw Arizona walking near the front door.

“Where are you going, Ari?”

“I’m going to school.”

“I told you ain't gotta go to school. I'll teach y-”

“It's okay, sis. I'm stand up for myself.”

“Okay. But if it gets too much, don't hesitate to tell me, right?”

"Okay. I won't."

"Do you need a ride."

“No, I’m going to catch the bus.” Arizona went to walk out the door, when Nevada called her name again.”

“Yes?"

“How about after school we go out for some ice cream?” Nevada said.

“Can ‘Robbie’ come?”

“Ugh, fine.” Nevada replied as she laughed.

“Yayy! See ya after school.” Arizona tossed on her winter coat and ran out the door, so that she could get to the bus stop on time.

When she got to school, everybody in the hallway looked at her. Arizona felt like she was the laughing stock in the school. Which kids already say she is. She walked inside the classroom and everybody began to whisper to each other. She sat down at her desk and read her book. Just when she thought anything could get any worse, Jason walked up in front of her desk.

“Ouuu, are you reading a book on how not to pee yourself at school?” The kids in the classroom started to giggle. Arizona’s fist balled up and punched Jason right in the face. All the kids in the classroom's eyes popped out.

“Are you just going to let her punch you like that?” Carny replied. Jason felt humiliated.

As soon as he was about to punch Arizona back, Mr. Tartle walked into the classroom.
“You are so dead.” Jason whispered to Arizona as he went to sit down.

During class the announcement came on.
“Hello teachers, students, and staff. We have a very important announcement to make. There is a group of active shooters inside the school premises as we speak. Please quietly head to the school’s danger zone now.”

Everybody got up and walked to the school’s danger zone. As they got near the gym, gunshots filled the halls of the school. Everyone got scared and started to run to different places. Arizona thought maybe this was her chance to reveal her superhero. She ran to one of the school’s restrooms, took off her school uniform and put on the suit. One of the shooters pointed a gun at Jason.

“Please don’t shoot me, please?” The shooter was about to pull the trigger, when Arizona yelled out to the shooter.

“Put the gun down, you big bully!” The shooter turned around as he saw her standing behind him holding two batons.

“What are you going to do little kid?”

“Something like this.” She ran towards the shooter and slid and hit him between his legs. He dropped his gun and fell on his knees as she whacked him in the head and knocked him out. She grabbed Jason and told him to run.

“I could’ve handled tha-”

“Shush, just run.” As he ran, Arizona turned around to fight the other shooters.

“I’m about to make a grown man cry.” She ran towards the shooters beating them up until one of them grabbed her and tossed her to a wall.

“Time for you to die, little Red Riding Hood.” the shooter said. As he went to punch her, a mysterious hand caught his fist. The shooter turned around to see the face of the city's vigilante Pigeon.

“You really weren’t going to hit a little girl were you?” Pigeon said. He twisted the shooter’s arm and punched him in the gut. Arizona got up and helped Pigeon fight the rest of shooters.

After the fight, the police came.
“Pigeon, thank you for saving this school.”

“Oh, umm, it wasn’t just me. Actually it was all her- Wait where is she?” Pigeon said as he looked around himself. Arizona went back to the restroom to change before anybody notices that she’s the superhero.
